Litchi tastes better when eaten in salt water.

Litchi meat and litchi soaked in salt water can decompose litchi acid and other components. Litchi soaked in salt water will taste better. Although it is the pulp soaked in salt water, the pulp is not salty, delicious and sweet.

Litchi in China is mainly distributed in the range of north latitude 18-29 degrees, with the most cultivated in Guangdong, followed by Fujian and Guangxi, and a few cultivated in Sichuan, Yunnan, Chongqing, Zhejiang, Guizhou and Taiwan Province provinces. Southeast Asia is also cultivated, and Africa, America and Oceania have introduced records.

Guangdong is the province with the largest distribution of litchi in China, covering more than 80 counties and cities in the province. Due to the red soil sandy loam, maritime climate conditions and unique geographical environment conditions, litchi produced in Nanshan District of Shenzhen has the characteristics of crystal-clear pulp and crisp and sweet fruit. In 2006, the native litchi varieties in Nanshan-glutinous rice paste, Guiwei and Feizixiao-won the national geographical indication certificate, which is the first batch of litchi varieties protected by geographical indications in China.

Meizhou litchi is a specialty of Meizhou City, Guangdong Province. Wuhua County is the most widely planted area of litchi in Meizhou, among which fine-grained litchi is the most famous, mainly distributed in Huacheng, Hengbei, Shuizhai, Hedong, Xikeng, Wen Kui, Anliu and other places. Xingning, Meixian, Fengshun and other counties also have a small amount of cultivation.

Growing environment and varieties of litchi

Litchi trees like high temperature and humidity and sunshine. Its heredity requires that the temperature of flower bud differentiation is relatively low, but the lowest temperature is -2 ~-4℃, so they will suffer from freezing injury. It is sunny and warm in flowering period, and no dry heat is the most favorable. Too low humidity, continuous rain, dry and hot weather or strong north wind are not conducive to flowering and pollination. Unfavorable disaster weather in the flower and fruit period will lead to falling flowers and fruits, and even loss of harvest.

The main cultivars of litchi are March Red, Round Branch, Black Leaf, Hu Aizhi, Guiwei, Glutinous Rice Paste, Justin, Zhu Lan, Chenzi, Gualv, Crystal Ball, Feizixiao and White Sugar Poppy.

Among them, Guiwei and glutinous rice paste are the best varieties and the choice of fresh food, while Guaqing is a precious and hard-to-find variety. "Luogang Guiwei", "Bicun glutinous rice paste" and "Zengcheng Gualv" are known as "Three Unique Litchi". Huiyang town is rich in cinnamon, and glutinous rice paste is delicious and sweet.
