Brief introduction and detailed information of Siu Lan Island

Alone outside Lan Yu Island, it is an inaccessible volcanic island with an altitude of 400 meters and an area of about 1.75 square kilometers. Xiaolan Island, formerly known as Xiaohongtou Island, is located in the southeast of Taiwan Province Island, 5.4 kilometers northwest of Lan Yu, belonging to Lan Yu Township, Taitung County, with a circumference of 4.964 kilometers and a slightly trapezoidal shape.

Xiaolanyu is the northern end of bashi channel, and the distance from Xiaolanyu to Ami Island is 96 kilometers or 52 nautical miles, which is the narrowest place in bashi channel.

Xiaolanyu is composed of volcanic rocks, mostly pyroxene andesite, covered with coral reefs. There are three craters in eastern central China. There are many cliffs and reefs in the east, southeast and northwest. Short grass grows on the island, and there are trees in low places. Phalaenopsis, a specialty, has no settled residents. The island is full of craters and countless wild lilies left by bombing ranges in the early years. The highest peak is Omori Mountain (about173m), and there is a weather station on the mountain. When the weather is fine, you can visit five small islands in the northern Philippines, such as Xiaolan Island, East Coast Island and Ami Island.
