Will banks fail? Will insurance companies fail?

On May 4th to 5th, a sandstorm with the widest scope and strongest intensity this year hit northern China 10 provinces (cities and autonomous regions) including Hebei. According to the provincial meteorological observatory, this is the biggest sandstorm weather process in Hebei in recent 10 years. So, why is this dusty weather so influential? What caused this dusty weather? Where did the dust come from and when did it leave? Yesterday, the reporter interviewed Guo Yingchun, chief meteorological service expert of Hebei Meteorological Observatory.

Monitoring: gale in 77 counties, highest in Kangbao 10.

On May 4th, there was floating dust or sand blowing in Zhangjiakou, Chengde, Langfang, Baoding and Shijiazhuang, mainly floating dust. Since yesterday morning, the wind has increased everywhere. Most areas have northwest winds of 4-6 and gusts of 7-8. Among them, 77 counties (cities, districts) have strong winds, and the instantaneous wind speed is above17m/s (above magnitude 7). The maximum instantaneous wind speed in Kangbao is 28m/s( 10), which is the most in the whole province.

Guo Yingchun said that the dusty weather from May 4th to yesterday was the biggest one in Hebei 10 years. "Compared with normal years, the large-scale floating dust or sand-blowing weather in early May this year belongs to the late years." Floating dust is a weather phenomenon caused by fine particles floating in the air, such as dust produced in the distance or nearby. At this time, the wind speed is small, and floating dust is the main factor on the 4th. Sand blowing is a weather phenomenon caused by local or nearby dust blown by the wind. The wind speed is relatively high at this time, and yesterday was very typical. Both floating dust and sand-blowing weather will affect visibility (both within the range of 1- 10 km), which will adversely affect traffic.

Cause of formation: the strong wind blowing from the northern sand source area is helpful for dust transportation.

The windy and dusty weather process in Hebei province has the characteristics of strong gust wind and wide influence range. Guo Yingchun analyzed that cold air activities in Mongolia and Inner Mongolia were frequent and strong winds appeared in these two days. This area is also the sand source of sandstorm. Recently, the high temperature, less precipitation and high wind speed in the sand source provide favorable conditions for sand discharge. The interaction of two unfavorable meteorological conditions, cold air and sand source, led to this large-scale dusty weather.

Since the spring of this year, there have been two sandstorm weather processes in Hebei * * * (April 30th and May 4th-5th), and the total number of processes is less than that in the last 10 year (3.3 times), which is the same as last year. Judging from the types of sand-dust weather, sand-blowing weather dominated on April 30th, while floating dust and sand-blowing weather dominated on May 4th and 5th respectively. The main reasons for the decrease of sandstorm weather are: on the one hand, the cold air tends to weaken due to climate warming; In addition, the construction of shelterbelts and the development of windbreak and sand fixation have also played a very good role. However, this time the dust was transported at an altitude of more than 5,000 meters, so it is not surprising that Mongolian dust can be transported to Hebei.
