University of Queensland

Brisbane Queensland

The University of Queensland is located in Brisben, the capital of Queensland. Brisben is the third largest city in Australia with a population of about1500,000. Because it is located in the southeast corner of Queensland, its climate is subtropical. Winter is dry and sunny. Such a warm and pleasant climate has greatly affected the life rhythm and lifestyle of local residents. People are wearing thin T-shirts and shorts, wandering around the streets, immersed in warm weather. In addition, the prices in Brisben are lower than those in other metropolises, thus providing a relaxed lifestyle for the residents here.

English learning in the University of Queensland is managed and undertaken by the College of Continuing Education (ICTE) and TESOL (Teaching English as a Second Language or Other Languages), and its offices and classrooms are located in the modern air-conditioned building of Joyce Ackroyd Building on Blair Avenue St. Lucia campus. Since 198 1, ICTE College has covered English teaching for general, academic, commercial and professional purposes. In addition to regular full-time intensive courses, it also provides a large number of English training contracts and travel study plans for overseas students and professional groups, including professional training for TESOL teachers. Intensive English classes are offered in six grades from elementary to advanced, and the course duration is divided into 10 week, 20 week, 30 week and 40 week. Students attend classes for 25 hours a week. This course is based on general English course, and attempts to develop students' communication skills and fluency in listening, speaking, reading and writing. In intermediate and above courses, academic English and business English are optional courses. There are three kinds of academic English courses with a duration of 5 weeks, 10 weeks or 20 weeks respectively. Students attend classes for 25 hours a week. These courses are designed for students who want to study in universities, TAFE, vocational schools and advanced vocational schools in Australia or other English-speaking countries. The course is divided into advanced and advanced classes at the same time, which mainly cultivates students' listening, speaking, reading and writing abilities, and teaches and trains the skills needed for the next English learning and training.
