The topography and climate of Jiaxing

Jiaxing is located in the northeast of Zhejiang Province, in the hinterland of Hangjiahu Plain in the Yangtze River Delta, and is one of the important cities in the Yangtze River Delta. The city boundary is between 30 degrees 2 1 min north latitude and 3 1 min east longitude 120 degrees 18 minutes to12/degree 16 minutes east, with the sea in the east and Qiantang River in the south. The Grand Canal runs through the whole territory. The city is located at the intersection of rivers, seas, lakes and rivers, at the throat of Hunan Corridor, less than 100 km away from Shanghai, Hangzhou, Suzhou, Lake and other cities, with obvious geographical advantages, especially between Suzhou and Hangzhou, which is a paradise on earth.

The city's land area is 92 kilometers long from east to west, 76 kilometers wide from north to south, and 39 15 square kilometers, including 3,477 square kilometers of plains, 328 square kilometers of water surface, 40 square kilometers of hills and mountains, and 4,650 square kilometers of urban waters.

The city is flat, with an average elevation of 3.7 meters (Wusong elevation), of which Xiuzhou District and northern Jiashan are the lowest, and its ground elevation is generally between 3.2 meters and 3.6 meters, and some lowlands are 2.8 meters to 3.0 meters. There are more than 200 hills in the city, scattered on the north bank of Hangzhou Bay in Qiantang River, with the elevation mostly below 200 meters. The highest point of the city is Gaoyang Mountain, which is located at the junction of Haiyan and Haining. The city is a shallow dish-shaped depression near Taihu Lake, and the terrain is generally inclined from southeast to northwest. Due to thousands of years of human reclamation and development, the plain is divided by criss-crossing ponds and canals, and fields, land and water are interlaced, forming a three-dimensional topographic structure of "six fields, one water and three points". Mulberry is planted in dry land, grain is grown in paddy field, and fish is raised in lakes. The artificial landform is obvious and the characteristics of water towns are rich.

Jiaxing City is located in the southern edge of the northern subtropical zone, belonging to the East Asian monsoon region, with alternating winter and summer monsoon, four distinct seasons, moderate temperature, abundant rain and sunshine, with the characteristics of wet in spring, hot in summer, dry in autumn and cold in winter. Because of its mid-latitude, the hot and humid weather in summer is much shorter than the dry and cold weather in winter. Annual average temperature 15.9 degrees Celsius. The average annual precipitation is 1 168.6 mm. The annual average sunshine time is 20 17.0 hours.
