Huaihua, formerly known as he cheng and Wuxi, is one of the prefecture-level cities under the jurisdiction of Hunan Province. Huaihua has been known as "the gateway of Guizhou and Yunnan" and "the throat of all Chu" since ancient times, and it is the "bridgehead" of China to the southwest. Huaihua Village was established in the Song Dynasty, which means "softening and naturalization", hence the name Huaihua.
Huaihua has a superior ecological environment. Located in the transition zone from the hills in central Hunan to the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau, the city's forest coverage rate reaches 68.7%, making it one of the nine ecologically sound areas in China and known as the "breathing city".
