Flood problem in Enshi prefecture

From 8: 00 on July 3/KLOC-0 to 8: 00 on July 4, there was a heavy rain in Enshi Prefecture, Hubei Province. Among them, Enshi, Jianshi and Lichuan were hit by heavy rain. The total rainfall in Jianshi County is more than 220 mm, accompanied by strong winds and lightning, causing local heavy rains and floods, and various direct economic losses in the whole state are over 100 million yuan.

Affected by this heavy rainfall, the water levels of Qingjiang River and Mashui River in Enshi Prefecture skyrocketed. At 9: 00 on the 4th, the peak water level of Enshi Station in Qingjiang River was as high as 417.95m, which was 2.45m higher than the warning water level. The water level of Jianshi Station of Mishui River, a tributary of Mashui River, was 546.16m at 4: 00 on the 4th, which was the second highest water level in history since the station was established.

It is understood that heavy rain has caused traffic jams at intersections such as Guanpo Bridge, Siwei Street, Nanmen and Shengli Street in Enshi City. Only the No.2 and No.8 buses operate normally, and the houses in Shengli Street in the urban area are flooded to a depth of one meter. Many roads in the whole state were destroyed and interrupted by flash floods. In Xinling Town, Badong County, two people were killed and 1 person was injured when the wall collapsed due to heavy rain. Ye Ting Prison Memorial Hall, located at No.0/54, Houshanwan, Enshi, was damaged by heavy rain. During the Anti-Japanese War, Ye Ting was twice secretly imprisoned in Enshi by the Kuomintang for more than two years.

According to the records of the meteorological department, this is the largest heavy precipitation in Enshi since the maximum daily precipitation (123.6 mm) in 1998.
