Wanzhou is under the jurisdiction of Chongqing.

Wanzhou District, under the jurisdiction of Chongqing, is located in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, the northeast of Chongqing and the heart of the Three Gorges reservoir area. It is a material distribution center in northeastern Chongqing, eastern Sichuan, western Hubei, southern Shaanxi, eastern Guizhou and western Hunan, and a regional central city along the Yangtze River in Chengdu-Chongqing urban agglomeration.

Introduction to Wanzhou:

Wanzhou District, named after "Bi Hui, Wan Chuan", is famous for its "gathering of thousands of businessmen". 1992, Wanxian area, Wanxian county and Wanxian city were abolished, and the original Wanxian area was located in Wanxian city.

1997 Wanxian City and its Longbao District, Tiancheng District and Wuqiao District were abolished, and Wanxian District of Chongqing was established. At the same time, Chongqing Wanxian Immigrant Development Zone was established to manage six counties: Kaixian, Zhongxian, Yunyang, Fengjie, Wushan and Wuxi.

From 65438 to 0998, Wanxian Immigration Development Zone and Wanxian District were renamed Wanzhou Immigration Development Zone and Wanzhou District. Wanzhou Immigration Development Zone was abolished in 2000, and all counties were directly under the jurisdiction of Chongqing.

Wanzhou district is hilly, with the highest point at Shaping Peak, Qiyao Village, Baozi Township, with an altitude of1762m. The lowest point is located in Huangbai Township, which changes with the water level of the Yangtze River.
