Meteorological relationship of tropical meteorology

Because of the high temperature and humidity in the tropical lower atmosphere, the middle and lower atmosphere in tropical areas is often in an unstable state, which is very beneficial to the development of convection. The tropical convective cloud system is very powerful, and hundreds of huge cumulonimbus clouds often gather together to form a unique cloud cluster in tropical areas.

When a weather system occurs, the vortex, convergence and divergence of the flow field often appear first. Compared with the middle and high latitudes, the change of tropical flow field is more important.

In summer in the northern hemisphere, the main members of tropical atmospheric circulation are: low-level northeast trade winds and southwest monsoon, as well as intertropical convergence zone and monsoon trough and two mid-ocean troughs composed of these air currents.

Su Shi, a famous writer in China in the Song Dynasty, also described the monsoon phenomenon. The study of modern tropical meteorology began during the Second World War. Michael, an American meteorologist, first contributed to the analysis of tropical weather, the study of tropical atmospheric circulation and easterly waves, and wrote the first monograph on modern tropical meteorology.

Subsequently, Qiu Chen and Hsiao-Lan Kuo made contributions to tropical atmospheric dynamics, Pierre Knies's research on tropical air-sea interaction, Yanai Dixiong's analysis of tropical fluctuations, Florin, a German meteorologist, and Krishnamurti, an Indian meteorologist, studied tropical monsoon.
