Many places in the north will usher in the strongest rainfall since the flood season! How long will the flood season last?

According to the latest news from China Meteorological Bureau in August 1 1, there will be a large-scale heavy rainfall process in northern China from now on, involving more than ten provinces, among which Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, Liaoning and other places will have the strongest rainfall since the flood season.

The day before yesterday, China Meteorological Bureau launched a three-level emergency response to major meteorological disasters (rainstorm and typhoon) after comprehensive judgment and emergency consultation.

What impact will heavy rainfall in the north bring?

According to Zhang Tao, chief forecaster of the Central Meteorological Observatory, this process is a typical precipitation process in the main flood season in northern summer. At this time, the subtropical high brings warm and humid air from the south, and then cooperates with the cold air in the north, and the cold and warm air meet to form precipitation.

In this process, it is estimated that the cumulative rainfall in southeastern Gansu, southwestern Shaanxi, northern and western mountainous areas of Beijing, northern Hebei, central and eastern Liaoning and other places is 60 ~ 120mm, and the local rainfall can reach 150 ~ 180mm, accompanied by lightning and short-term heavy precipitation, and there are strong convective weather such as hail or 8 ~ 9 thunderstorms and strong winds.

Affected by heavy rainfall, the meteorological risk of mountain torrents, geological disasters and floods in small and medium-sized rivers in northwest Sichuan Basin, southern Gansu, southwestern Shaanxi, northern Hebei and Beijing is high. The Central Meteorological Observatory upgraded and issued a yellow rainstorm warning today, and the China Meteorological Bureau has launched a three-level emergency response to major meteorological disasters. Relevant areas should pay attention to the latest forecast in time and strengthen the prevention of secondary disasters that may be caused by heavy rainfall and strong convective weather and their adverse effects on traffic.

How long will the flood season last?

The main characteristics of this precipitation process in the north are large scale, strong intensity and strong convective weather.

This is a rainstorm process that moves from west to east. Heavy rainfall is mainly concentrated in northwest 1 1, north 12 and northeast 13.

Although it is beginning of autumn now, judging from the temperature and humidity, the whole atmosphere is still in midsummer, which is the traditional main flood season in the north-"seven drops and eight rises".

Zhang Tao said that this weather will continue in the coming week, and there will be another precipitation process in the north from 15 to 17, in which the heavy precipitation in the west of Sichuan basin is somewhat different from other places. The next few days will be locked by heavy rainfall, continuous heavy rain, and even heavy rain in some areas.

If this weather condition is adjusted within a period of time, it indicates that autumn is coming in the north.

This round of heavy precipitation in the north is a typical process in the midsummer of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, especially in the main flood season of "Seven Downs and Eight Ups". Theoretically, at least once or twice a year, so from this perspective, it is not uncommon.

But at the same time, because this is a large-scale weather process, the rainfall on the surface may be relatively strong, which also brings pressure to the flood control in Haihe River basin.

Therefore, people should pay attention to prevent strong convective weather processes such as strong winds and lightning.
