Hungarian hares are playing in the snow. Why are these rabbits not afraid of the cold?

Hungarian hares can play in the snow in winter and are not afraid of severe cold. The reason why ordinary hares are not affected by severe cold is nothing more than two points: natural selection and the fittest. Survival; and the local climate is not very cold.

This is the case with Hungarian hares. In the severe cold from generation to generation, the hares that are not cold-tolerant die, leaving behind all the hares with good cold-resistant genes.

2. Hungary’s geographical and climatic factors

Hungary is located in the middle of Europe, with the Alps to the west and the Carpathians to the northeast. The famous Danube River also flows through Hungary, dividing the country into east and west parts. In Hungary, the Mediterranean climate and the warm Atlantic current are affected all year round, causing the climate to be warm in winter and cool in summer. Therefore, Hungarian hares can completely withstand cold weather with their fur.

This is the main reason why Hungarian hares can play in the snow? The winter climate is within the adaptive range.

3. Climate change

In fact, I think there is another reason, but I am not sure whether it is correct. That is the impact of the greenhouse effect. Compared with the past, the current temperature can be said to be particularly warm. After all, global warming has been going on for a long time. Global warming is an increase in the temperature of the earth due to the production of large amounts of carbon dioxide due to human activities. Therefore, the current living environment of Hungarian hares has reached an acceptable range compared to the more severe cold weather in the past.

After all, the weather is getting warmer and the hares are fighting the cold. This is done at both ends, making the Hungarian hares more active in winter.

Species can adapt to the environment, and the environment can also change species. This is a two-way choice, but the greenhouse effect is a negative impact. I hope the global greenhouse effect can be solved.
