What is a typhoon center?

The typhoon eye, that is, the typhoon center, is a strong weather system that occurs in the tropical ocean. From the periphery to the center, the wind speed increases gradually, and then increases rapidly. In the central area with a diameter of several tens of kilometers, the wind speed drops rapidly, the rainfall stops, and there is a partially cloudy sky where the sun can be seen during the day and the stars can be seen at night.

Typhoon center (typhoon eye) is a unique "eye" in tropical cyclones, which is called typhoon eye in meteorology. If the typhoon is cut horizontally, we can see that there are three obviously different areas, from the center to the outside: typhoon eye area, cloud wall area and spiral rain belt area. Typhoon Eye Area: It's strange that the wind here is very light and the weather is sunny, with an average diameter of 40 kilometers.

typical characteristic

Mature tropical cyclones (with intensity above tropical storm level) often have a clear, round and partially cloudy area with a diameter of several tens of kilometers in the middle of deep cloud area, which is called eye area. On the satellite cloud image, the eye area appears as a big black spot near the center of the dense cloud area. The annular cloud area around the eye area is called cloud wall or eye wall.

The eye area is usually round, but it is also oval or irregular. In the early stage of tropical cyclone development, the eye area is generally irregular and has a large range. However, when the tropical cyclone develops strongly, the eye area shrinks into a circle and is axisymmetric.

The eye area is basically a clear and partially cloudy area with only a small amount of stratocumulus in the lower layer. The air pressure in the center of the eye area is the lowest, and the wind speed is also very small, which is a breeze or still wind. However, near the eye wall, the wind speed increases sharply and reaches the maximum. In the eyes of typhoons, there are often many birds. These countless seabirds, which were blown to the typhoon eye by the typhoon airflow, found a "safe haven" and sometimes flew far away with the typhoon.

The typhoon eye won't last long, about an hour or two, and the calm will gradually be replaced by another rage. Moreover, the illusion caused by a moment's pause will make you feel that the reloaded typhoon is fiercer, fiercer and fiercer, just like the ancient behemoth trying its best to destroy everything in the world.
