Jiangsu province is the most prone to tornadoes.
Experts from Jiangsu Climate Center and Nanjing University of Information Science & Technology have studied the tornado law in Jiangsu in recent 50 years and found that tornadoes are not uncommon in Jiangsu. In the 50 years from 1956 to 2005, there were 1070 tornado events in Jiangsu, and there were 2 1.4 tornadoes in Jiangsu every year on average. The established tornado risk assessment model in Jiangsu shows that Suzhou, Wuxi and Nantong are high-risk areas of tornadoes in Jiangsu, among which Nantong is the most, followed by Suzhou, all of which belong to the southeast of Jiangsu, while Wuxi, Changzhou, Taizhou, Huai 'an, Yancheng and Xuzhou have medium frequency. Less frequently are Nanjing, Zhenjiang, Yangzhou, Suqian and Lianyungang.
