Brief introduction of chiayi TV station
Commercial TV is the third free commercial radio station in Hong Kong, which opened on September 7th. 1975. August 2 1978 went bankrupt.
On September 7th, 1975, at 6 pm, Chiayi TV, the third TV station in Hong Kong, started broadcasting. The opening ceremony was very simple. Only General Manager He Zuozhi, Program Manager Sun Yubiao and News Manager Pan Chaoyan made simple speeches, and then the program was broadcast all night. The highlight of the evening was the song and dance program "Jia's Moment". This one-hour program stars Samuel Hui, Ceng Jiang and Weng Qianyu, who are very popular in Japan. Weng Qianyu's performance alone took 45 minutes. The dancers are all from Japan, and the director and assistant director in charge of Weng Qianyu's performance are also from Japan. It is said that George Ho personally planned the program and went to Japan four times for the program.
At the beginning, one of the licensing conditions of Jiayi TV was that Jiayi was required to spend part of its time broadcasting educational programs, which was one of the reasons why Jiayi could not make ends meet and one of the reasons why Jiayi closed down. Why is the main shareholder of Chiayi Satellite TV Zuo Zhi, the founder of Hong Kong Commercial Radio? The TV programs produced by Jiayi Satellite TV include The Legend of the Condor Heroes and The Condor Heroes. Tsui Hark, Stephen Chow and Zheng Yuling all worked in TV stations.
Although Jiashi has only a short life span of three years, it has produced 50 or 60 TVs, which is definitely more than that in the 1970s. Among them, there are many classic works, such as the first Jin Yong TV series "Legend of the Condor Heroes" produced by Harvest, which was a sensation in Hong Kong, and then Harvest successively produced "Legend of the Condor Heroes", "Sword with Royal Blood" and Flying Fox of Snowy Mountain. However, due to the early graduation, it is not known to many mainland drama fans. The famous actors in Jiashi are Michelle, Wei Qiuhua, Luo Lelin, Li Tongming, Zheng Yuling, Yang Panpan, Hong Kong sister Zhang Mali, Qin Huang and others. After Harvest graduated three years later, Michelle, Michelle and others switched to Li (later ATV), and Michelle and others switched to wireless, all of which ushered in the second peak of their acting career, especially Michelle's mainland drama. Tsui Hark, who works in a TV station, became famous completely from Jiashi. Tsui Hark 1977 joined TV Broadcasting Co., Ltd. and worked as a director and producer. A year later, he switched to Jiashi and made it into the classic TV series "Golden Dagger" of Gulong, which became famous in one fell swoop. This can be said to be a turning point in Tsui Hark's career as a director. In addition, Jiashi also filmed Gu Long's "Legend of Wulin" and other dramas. Besides Jin Yong's plays and Gu Long's plays, Liang Yusheng's works are indispensable. Harvest has made two plays by Liang Yusheng, Jade Bow Edge in the Sea of Clouds and bride with white hair, and their influence is also spectacular. Other TV series Harvest also produced many excellent products.
Jiashi can be said to be a fleeting meteor. Beautiful and bright, but short-lived. This has been condemned by many opera fans of the older generation. A TV station that could have formed a tripartite confrontation with beauty (that is, ATV) and wireless has disappeared into the crowd! What a pity! It is precisely because of its short-lived beauty that it has now become a link of great concern to many collectors and drama historians. This may be unexpected at first, so it is a comfort!
Harvest's first night's "Harvest Chen Liang" program was well received, and it was rated as reaching international standards with fresh methods. However, from the next day on, Harvest's programs were less, and the most prominent one was Life in Color, hosted by Liao.
At that time, the society had high hopes for educational TV, so when Harvest was founded, the government stipulated that Harvest should be used for TV teaching from 2 pm to 6 pm and from 9 pm to 1 1.30. However, these programs are not popular with the audience, which is one of the reasons for Harvest's bankruptcy.
On 1976, Harvest broadcasted the TV series "Hong Xiguan and Fang Shiyu" with high ratings in Taiwan Province Province, which attracted many viewers. Jiashi also took the martial arts drama route, including The Legend of the Condor Heroes and The Condor Heroes. However, Harvest failed to maintain the rating level, and the economic situation was in trouble. It could only be maintained by the capital injection of Lin Xiufeng, the son of Bing Yim Lam, the founder of Hang Seng Bank.
During the period of 1978, Liang Cong joined in, which triggered an upsurge of poaching. Liang's important personnel are (assistant general manager and creative director), Shi (program director), (program promotion director), Ye Jiexin (production director) and Lin Xuhua (data collection manager). Many famous artists and directors jumped ship together, and most of the actors in the TV series "Family Change" also moved their positions. Liang spared no expense to instigate the "July offensive". But at this time, the government has begun to intervene in the investigation of Harvest's financial problems.
Before the "July offensive", Harvest artists were free to do float parade in hot weather and tour 92 regions of Hong Kong to promote Harvest programs. Newspapers also sell advertisements. The offensive was flat, although there was a good show, but the price was extremely high. As a result, the top management had to undergo surgery to stop bleeding, and Zhou Selina was forced to resign. At the same time, Shi, Ye Kaixin,, and Lin Xuhua resigned one after another, which was called the "Six Gentlemen" incident. Another way of saying it is that these six people jumped ship and went to CTV.
1978 August 2 1 day, a notice appeared outside Jiashi Xiamen: "Our company is in trouble and will stop business from now on. As for the salary and treatment of employees, we will handle it according to the publicity in order to solve it quickly. As for the progress, we will announce it step by step. "
Jiayi TV has produced many TV programs that are regarded as classics by TV fans, including Legend of the Condor Heroes and Legend of the Condor Heroes. Tsui Hark, Stephen Chow and Zheng Yuling all worked in TV stations. After the collapse of Chiayi TV, Chiayi TV Building became the Radio Television Hong Kong Building today.
Unlike the other two TV stations "TVB" and "ATV" in Hong Kong, Chiayi TV has only one Chinese channel. Its emblem is an annular hexagon composed of six straight lines, with an included angle of 120 degrees, which represents the "six arts" of China Confucianism-ritual, music, shooting, imperial calligraphy and counting (among which "imperial calligraphy and counting" was once ridiculed as "losing the number before"); At the same time, it also represents the six major shareholders of Chiayi TV, namely Bing Yim Lam (one of the founders of Hang Seng Bank), Jardine Matheson, Hong Kong Commercial Radio, and three Chinese newspapers in Hong Kong-Sing Tao Daily, Overseas Chinese News and Business Daily (only Sing Tao Daily is still published at present). Among the six shareholders, commercial radio has the largest dominance. Commercial radio station once founded "Harvest Football Team" to do something for Harvest, but later gave up because Harvest went bankrupt. It is worth mentioning that Ng Fong Wing, who was working in a commercial TV station at that time, was the leader of the team. At the beginning of 1978, Harvest offered high salaries to Serena Zhou, the general manager, and many of her main subordinates, including Ye Jiexin, Ye Jiexin, Lin Xuhua and Shi, who were collectively called "Six Gentlemen of Harvest". Harvest also spent a lot of money to recruit TVB's front desk and behind-the-scenes personnel, which increased the number of people in Taiwan from about 600 at the beginning of 1978 to more than 800.
On July 1978, Mrs Selina launched the "July offensive" for CTV, and carried out large-scale publicity activities in Hong Kong, including placing full-page advertisements in several newspapers for several days in a row, and distributing tapes to promote new programs at the Tsim Sha Tsui pier. July Offensive includes several major dramas: Celebrity Love Story starring Zheng Yuling and Michelle, Love with the Golden Dagger starring Tsui Hark and Yu Anan, plus the theater of reasoning and depth charges, and the adult talk show Hello Night Return initiated by Hong Kong media at that time.
Unfortunately, after the launch of "July offensive", the growth of performance and ratings was not as good as expected; At the same time, because of spending a lot of money, Harvest's working capital quickly dried up. Mrs Selina and the "Six Gentlemen of Harvest" resigned immediately, and the speech on August 4th was accepted by Harvest's board of directors, and Li took over as the general manager. Because Harvest spared no expense in making TV series, resulting in serious losses. On the morning of August 6th, 1978, 2 1, CTV suddenly issued a statement, announcing that it would stop operating due to financial difficulties, and posted a notice outside the headquarters gate, indicating that CTV would stop broadcasting that day. At the same time, some employees applied to the court for liquidation of Harvest.
On September 7th, the High Court appointed the Official Receiver Hoss as the provisional liquidator to take over Harvest's assets. In the afternoon, more than 300 artists of Jiashi petitioned outside the Governor's Office, headed by He Juhua, editor-in-chief and chief anchor of the news department, submitted a petition letter to the adjutant of the Governor's Office, and sat quietly outside the Governor's Office for four and a half hours, demanding that the government "investigate all the responsibilities of Jiashi, resume broadcasting on TV stations as soon as possible, and protect the employment rights and interests of TV professionals". Harvest artists petitioned the Government House three times, but the police arrested He Juhua, Xu Shengqi, Zhu Ke and Lin Xuhua in the early morning of October 3, 65438, and charged four people and all artists with "illegal assembly". Results Jiashi was liquidated by the court on June 65438+1October 65438+September of the same year.
In fact, long before (1977) went bankrupt, the organization of the company changed, especially it consumed a lot of money, so the capital of the Lin family was injected. Due to the increase in the capital injection of the Lin family, the Hong Kong government believes that this may violate the terms of the license. Therefore, in June of that year, the Governor in Council ordered the Television Advisory Committee to conduct an investigation. After the investigation, the authorities sent a letter to Jiashi, ordering to rectify some matters related to the company organization; But not long after, Harvest declared bankruptcy. However, in the Asian TV series "TV Storm" broadcast from 2000 to 200 1, it was insinuated that Harvest was closed because the Hong Kong government did not allow China investors to invest in electronic media in Hong Kong.
Harvest's sudden collapse made most of its artists at that time at a loss. They even petitioned the Government House to ask the Hong Kong Government to lend a helping hand to help Taiwan Province return to China. But in the end, it doesn't matter (and the reason is that Harvest has weak financial resources). As a result, a large number of elites in front and behind the scenes of Jiashi joined Li TV respectively, which set off the golden age of Hong Kong TV industry in the future. The Hong Kong Government didn't issue the third and fourth free TV licenses until 20/0/3, while the two radio and television companies (TVB and TVB, later reorganized into ATV) in Hong Kong have been fighting for the top spot, which even led to TVB's great Taiwan independence for 30 years.
However, with the launch of RTHK digital terrestrial television by the Hong Kong government and the plan to issue a new television license, the television industry in Hong Kong may have new development.
After the collapse of Harvest, Chiayi TV Building once became a production accessory); Wireless TV. 1988, after TVB moved from Broadcast Road to Clear Water Bay TV City, Chiayi TV Building became the present Hong Kong Radio and Television Building.
Zhang Minyi, former director of radio and television, said that He Zuoxiu founded Jiayi TV on 1975 and sold all his shares to others one year later. After that, Harvest suddenly closed down, which had nothing to do with He Zuozhi, but he stood up and generously used his own money to give employees severance pay. "What a kind spirit, all bosses should learn."
