Recently, many citizens have reported that the daily maximum temperature far exceeds the 37℃ or 38℃ predicted by the Municipal Meteorological Observatory. Yesterday, the relevant person from the Meteorological Observatory explained that the temperature in the weather forecast refers to the indoor temperature.

According to Zhang Shengchun, a senior engineer of the Municipal Meteorological Observatory, the temperature predicted by the Meteorological Observatory refers to the indoor temperature, not the outdoor temperature. The thermometer used to observe the daily temperature, its sensing part is at a distance of 1.5 meters from the ground, and it is placed in a louver box which is not exposed to direct sunlight and is ventilated all around. The observed temperature under this natural condition is naturally lower than the ground temperature under direct sunlight. For example, the highest temperature in Huangshi yesterday was 37.2℃, while the surface temperature on that day was as high as 6 1.8℃.

At present, there are three meteorological observation points in Huangshi (including Yangxin and Daye), and the observation point in downtown Huangshi is located on the lawn beside Daquan Road.
