Why is it so hot offshore in Shanghai?

There are many factors that affect the local climate (including temperature and precipitation) of a region.

Main factors:

a. Drought. Summer is gradually approaching in our country, and the power of the summer monsoon is gradually strengthening, which will form rain belts. The rain belts will land from the southern coast of my country in March. As the rain belts move northward, they will reach the north in July and August. At this time, the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River will That is to say, the latitude where Shanghai is located is controlled by the subtropical high. The prevailing downdrafts controlled by the subtropical high make the weather mostly sunny and rainy, resulting in drought weather, which causes the temperature to remain high. High temperatures are common across the country in summer in my country, and cooling in Jiangnan areas such as Shanghai mainly relies on plum rain or typhoon rain. Therefore, although typhoons in the southeastern coastal areas cause huge losses every summer, it would not be a good thing if there are really no typhoons.

b. Latitude. Cities such as northern Jiangsu, Shandong and Dalian will have lower temperatures due to the increase in latitude, and the control of the subtropical high will become weaker and weaker, so these places will appear cooler. Similarly, Guangdong and Hainan are naturally not affected by the subtropical high. Although this place has a low latitude, when Shanghai was in the same period of drought, they were already in the rain belt, and the precipitation would bring a great degree of cooling. Due to the landing of the rain belt and exit, the lower the latitude, the longer the rainband influence will last.

c. Sea and land. Although Shanghai is located along the coast, due to the outward diffusion of airflow controlled by high pressure, the impact of sea breeze on cooling is not obvious. Therefore, it is not very different from Nanjing, and they are all under the control of the deputy high-ranking officer.

Secondary factors:

a. Terrain. Shanghai has a flat terrain and rarely forms orographic rain. This effect has a small impact and is therefore included as a secondary factor.

bHeat island effect. Shanghai has a large population and produces a lot of heat due to production and living emissions. However, the city is densely populated with high-rise buildings and the heat dissipation is weak. The heat island effect is obvious, which also leads to Shanghai's unusually hot weather.
