Taoist breathing and foundation-building exercises
The Chinese Taoist method of cultivating one’s nature and refining life first focuses on curing diseases and strengthening the body, secondly focuses on prolonging life, and finally pursues longevity. The author once obtained the Taoist Tuna Jue in Laoshan, East China Sea, which is a foundation-building skill. Because the various schools of qigong in society are so diverse, complex and multifaceted, it can quite dazzle learners and make them feel at a loss as to what to do. Some people may change their minds when they see something different, or they may go astray, or they may not know the rules, or they may even make deviations that are out of control. They want to maintain health but instead kill it. These are the drawbacks of qigong itself. The Chinese Taoist Qigong method follows "Tao follows nature" and is practiced in accordance with the law. There is no possibility of any deviation, and it is interoperable with other Qigong schools. Therefore, I do not want to keep it to myself, but I would like to make the true formula of the Taoist Taoist practice known to the world and offer it to fellow Taoists.
Gongli Chapter
Exhalation is breathing. Zhuangzi said: "Blow the breath, exhale the old and bring in the new...it's just for longevity." It means to exhale the turbid qi and absorb the emotional energy needed by the human body, so as to help cultivate the true energy inside the human body, so as to achieve the purpose of cultivating one's nature and prolonging one's life.
Chinese Taoist practice attaches great importance to the effect of "Qi" on the human body. It is believed that "when Qi gathers, life occurs, and when Qi disappears, death occurs." Everything in the world needs Qi to survive. Ge Hong, a Taoist priest of the Eastern Jin Dynasty, said in "Baopuzi": "Although taking medicine is the foundation of longevity, if you can also practice Qi, the benefits will be very rapid. If you can't get the medicine, you can practice Qi and make the best use of it. Those who are rational can live hundreds of years. "Chinese Taoist breathing is a method of practicing Qi. It is extremely simple and easy. If you insist on it all year round, you can benefit from it throughout your life.
Chinese Taoists believe that when a person is born, the umbilical cord is used to breathe and receive Qi along with the birth mother. The outstanding energy of the fetus is connected to the Qi of the biological mother, the Qi of the biological mother is connected to the Qi of space, and the Qi of space is connected to the Qi of Taihe. At that time, there was no breathing through the mouth and nose, and the two meridians of Ren and Du were connected and there was no barrier, which was called "fetal breath". When the fetus matures in ten months, the brain will come out, the umbilical cord will be cut, and the orifice will close. His breathing is interrupted at the mouth and nose at the top and at the tail at the bottom, turning into ordinary people's breathing. Ordinary people's breath goes down the throat and returns to the lungs. This is what Zhuangzi said, "Everyone breathes through the throat." His breath is thick and floating, his exhalation is long and his inhalation is short. From then on, the system of Taihe in space cannot travel down to the abdomen, and the innate ancestral Yan stored in the abdomen, which is called the innate Yuan Qi, "moves and comes out more" (Laozi said), but is lost in space. Over time, the innate Qi will be lost too much, the kidney pulse will be weak, the roots will not be solid, and all kinds of diseases will occur, leading to death.
There are only a limited number of places to live in summer, so you must know that keeping them cooked means keeping them alive. Therefore, ordinary people should not seek the method of immortality, but should also seek the method of prolonging life. The purpose of Chinese Taoist practice is to return to the origin and return to the innate state of an infant in order to increase longevity. The method of exhalation and exhalation can make the breath return to its roots and preserve the innate vitality. All diseases can be cured if there is pain in the feet. Only by consolidating the foundation of life can one move on to higher levels of cultivation. The Alchemy Classic says, "If you want to light a bright lamp, you must use the method of adding oil."
Gigong Method
You must choose a place with fresh air, such as a mountain forest, park, lakeside, or field. You can open the windows indoors. The time can be chosen at the four correct times of Zi, Wu, Mao and You. At this time, there is generally less work and it is easier to arrange yourself.
1. Shenfa
When practicing the exercises, it is best not to wear tight clothes, and the belt can be loosened to facilitate the circulation of qi and blood. There are no restrictions on postures, including walking, standing, sitting, and lying down. The rules for walking, standing, sitting and lying down are as follows:
When walking, you can walk slowly, with a calm demeanor and a safe and sound mind.
Stand naturally, with your feet shoulder-width apart and your knees slightly bent. Let your hands droop naturally and place them by your side, or fold your hands together and place them under your navel.
Sit, preferably cross-legged, with your hands folded and placed on your navel, or it is best to make a hand gesture. You can also sit flat on a stool and touch your knees with your hands.
When lying down, you can lie flat on your back with your palms facing up and place them on your sides, or place your hands on top of your navel. Or it is best to lie on your side, with one hand on the side of the head or on the occipital humerus, and the other hand on the navel, with both feet stretched and flexed, opposite to the hands. First turn your head to straighten your spine, and then do the work.
The above four postures can be freely chosen. But seek its natural comfort to make people calm.
When doing the exercises, keep your eyes slightly closed, look inward with light, look at your nose with your eyes, your heart with your nose, and your heart with your Dantian. Those who observe the Dantian are observing the Qi of the Dantian. Therefore, for those who are slightly closed, it is easy to breed distracting thoughts when they are open, and they are easy to fall asleep if they are fully closed, which is not good for nourishing Qi. When the eyelids are slightly closed, the eyelids naturally droop, which means that the objects in front of you can be seen but cannot be distinguished clearly.
The two ears must be screened out of all external interference, as if entering a state of complete silence, listening to the rhythm of the breath. "Zhuangzi" says: "It is not the ears that listen, but the heart that listens; the heart that is not heard, but the Qi that listens." This is the "Zhuangzi Listening to Breathing Method". The two ears are required to listen back inside and listen to the breathing going in and out. Breathing is intended to be silent, so those who listen to the breath are seeking the source of its ultimate benefit and concentrating on cultivating their energy.
During the exercise, the tongue is required to be pressed against the roof of the mouth, that is, the tongue is rolled back and the bottom surface of the tongue tip is pressed against it. Because there are two pits on the upper palate of humans, they are called "Tianchi Points", which are connected to the Niwan and drain the Shen and Qi. Therefore, it must be blocked when practicing the exercises, just like a baby breastfeeding.
2. Mental Methods
Before performing the exercises, distracting thoughts must be eliminated. If the thoughts are not eliminated, the Qi cannot be controlled.
"Tai Shang Laojun's Sutra of Constant Peace" says: "My wife's spirit likes to be pure but her heart is disturbed; her heart likes to be calm but wants to be led to it.
He can always calm his desires and calm his mind, clear his mind and his mind will be pure, and naturally the six desires will not arise. "That is to say, people should often use the Kung Fu of stopping thoughts, and stop the thoughts immediately, so that the previous thoughts will be eliminated, and the subsequent thoughts will not arise. As time goes by, the heart will naturally be quiet and nothing. As "Laozi" said: "Loss it again and again, so that you can do nothing. "Only in this way can we speak and practice the method of Qi.
"Qinghua Secret Text" discusses the method of stopping thoughts: "But when a thought arises in vain, thinking about people who cannot calm down in ordinary times, this is a irritating and anxious thing. If you give it up, you will become proficient over time. There is nothing more delusional than joy and anger. When you are angry, you will not be angry if you think about it. When you are happy, you will be restrained and you will not be happy. All these are the same. After a long time, you will calm down. ” He also said: “To seek tranquility of the mind, one must first treat the eyes. The eyes are the masters of mind wandering. The mind wanders in the eyes and controls the heart. Therefore, it is suppressed by the eyes and returned to the heart. "That is to say, by looking inside and reflecting back, you can also stop thinking.
The key to entering tranquility is to understand and understand it yourself.
3. The method of resting (the method of reviving the action of life) Wuwei)
First open your mouth, slowly exhale the turbid air in the body, then inhale the clear energy from the nose, and swallow the lower Dantian (three inches below the navel, the same inch as the body) to supplement the exhaled air. When you exhale, you must inhale completely. When you inhale, your lower abdomen should be rounded, and when you exhale, it is called smooth breathing. This is how you should exhale through your mouth and nose three times.
Then breathe through your mouth and teeth. , put the tongue on the roof of the mouth, listen to the music. Inhale through the nose, exhale through the nose, and inhale and exhale. Be sure to guide the breath with your heart and follow your heart. When you inhale, you should focus on the Dantian. When the mind is brought out of the body, it is said that the heart and breath are interdependent.
In the beginning, the human heart cannot directly reach the Dantian. One tube creates something out of nothing. It was originally connected during the birth, but after the second birth, it became a lung for breathing, and this tube gradually became blocked. "Laozi" said: "There is no gap between heaven and earth. It is empty and unyielding." "It refers to this tube. Why do some people who are new to Qigong experience chest tightness and chest pain? It is because the Qigong tube is damaged due to improper Qigong exercise. Therefore, when doing Qigong, do not force the Qigong to be suppressed or hold it back. Don't be persistent, don't force it. As long as it doesn't hurt, go down a little. If you feel uncomfortable, go up a little. After a while, slowly move away.
There is another important thing about breathing. The formula is to inhale long and exhale short. Inhale into the Dantian, save it for a while, and then tighten the abdomen and exhale. Only in this way can the true purpose of breathing and breathing be achieved.
The human body is like a small heaven and earth, with the heart as the sky and the kidneys as the earth. As Qi moves, the mind gradually sinks and merges with the Qi of the kidneys. "Laozi" says: "Heaven and earth are in harmony." , to drop nectar. "The mouth naturally produces sweet and cool body fluid. This body fluid is produced by refining Qi and is more tonic than ordinary saliva. When the mouth is full, send it to the throat, swallow it with your neck, and there will be a gurgling sound, which can also help people enter tranquility. The body fluid is for people The treasure of health-preserving, nourishing body fluid can transform Qi, moistening the whole body, which is called "refining body fluid and transforming Qi". The Qi of the lungs belongs to metal, and metal can generate water. Water is the main essence of the kidneys, and it is also a method for creating Jingfu. As it progresses, the body fluids become more and more sweet. Who would know it if you are not a cultivator? Lu Zu called it "immortal wine" and said: "Who knows how happy you are when you drink the wine of immortality?"
After practicing Qi for a long time, it becomes natural. , even if you don’t pay attention to it, the breath will return to the Dantian, as if it is attracted by force. At this time, you will only keep your mind in the Dantian, and the breathing in the Dantian will still be thin and continuous, as if it is still there. , seems to exist and seems to be non-existent, then it is the true breath. At this time, the conditioned method will gradually return to inaction, and it will be stored first and then forgotten. The Dan Sutra says: "The true meaning is uninterrupted. Knowing but not keeping it is kung fu." "With long-term proficiency, intentionality turns into unintentional, and intentionality turns into unintentional, then the mind can get a great rest and reach a state of no thoughts and no desires. A clear mind can lead to no dreams. "Zhuangzi" said: "Ancient A true man sleeps without dreams and sleeps without worries. "The effect is incredible.
In the end, the spirit and the mind merged into one, and they merged unconsciously. The heart was in the Qi, and the Qi enveloped the mind. The chaos merged and the dense atmosphere never dispersed. The body fluid became more and more prosperous, the mouth was full of sweetness, and the Dantian The whole body is warm, the breathing opens and closes, and the hair orifices all over the body are extremely quiet, but the energy is felt like silver threads, penetrating into the pores, and it is wonderful that there is no air entering or leaving the nose. The power of breathing is like a baby in a fetus, which is the breath of the fetus. "Laozi" says: "It can be as soft as a baby." "The true power of spiritual transformation lies here. At this point, the path to immortality is not far away.
However, reaching such a state depends on everyone's talent sooner or later. We must be cautious in the end and the beginning. , don’t be lazy. The Taishang Laojun Vipassana Sutra says: “It is easy to believe in the way, but difficult to practice it; it is easy to practice the way, but difficult to obtain it; it is easy to obtain the way, but difficult to keep it. If you keep the Tao without losing it, your body will last forever. ”
Health Preservation Chapter
1. If you are hungry or thirsty due to obstacles on the way out, you can calmly breathe in and take Qi on the spot, and then you will not feel hungry or thirsty. The so-called "Qi is not full" "Thinking about food". Various effects will be known to oneself over time, so there is no need to elaborate.
2. To practice breathing, it is best to combine it with movement exercises such as Tai Chi. "If there is movement, there must be something." Its quiet. "Movement and stillness complement each other and enhance each other. Those who practice martial arts can also use this as internal strength. They only know how to use clumsy strength and do not know how to lead Qi with their mind and lead their form with Qi. In the end, they will fall into the inferior position and will not be beneficial to health.
3. "Laozi" said: "When the superiors hear the Dao, they practice it diligently; when the sergeants hear the Dao, they live or die; when the inferiors hear the Dao, they laugh.
"The key to this method is persistence. You can use your Dantian to breathe at any time while walking, standing, sitting or lying down. There is no need to stick to the time. Most people only seek Qigong therapy after a serious illness. Once the disease improves, they ignore it. Scholars should avoid this shortcoming." .
4. Pay attention to maintaining harmony in daily life. It is better to speak less. (Laozi) said: "It is better to keep the center than to talk too much." "Be empty of your heart, but be full of your belly." "The so-called "great skill is like clumsiness, great distinction is like oil." "It also contains the purpose of extravagant refinement. We must pay more attention to cultivating morality. A righteous heart will have a peaceful heart, and a peaceful heart will make the spirit submissive. Let's see which person with advanced cultivation has no virtue.
5. Spicy and spicy food is not good for you. To nourish Qi, you should eat less or not at all. Elderly people should pay special attention to meaty and fishy food, which has a heavy and turbid nature. Eating it will make the innate Qi difficult to suppress. Spicy food has a frivolous nature and will make it difficult to suppress it. The congenital Qi is scattered but not concentrated, so it should be avoided. Eat light meals to nourish the body. It is not advisable to be too hungry or too full, as excessive hunger will damage the Qi, and too much food will damage the mind. Those who practice Qi should not know this.
6. Do not breathe in the wind. If you get the benefits of practicing, your whole body will become hot and your pores will open. If your lower limbs feel sore and numb after sitting cross-legged for a long time, you should not go to the ground suddenly. Injury to the muscles and bones. First spread your legs, put your hands on your knees, and wait for a while before getting down to the ground.
7. When practicing Qi, smoke is the symbol of fire. It can sparkle gold (lung), so if you smoke a lot, your lungs will be damaged first, and if you drink alcohol, you will talk too much if it enters the heart meridian, and you will shout loudly if it enters the lung meridian. If you have uncontrolled sexual desire, it will enter the kidney meridian. The spleen meridian is unwilling to eat, and the liver meridian is agitated... All kinds of harm can cause sexual disorder and energy consumption, so it is advisable to abstain from this method.
8. This method has become the only way to maintain health. . But in Chinese Taoist practice, it is only for foundation-building skills. Those who want to learn from the higher level can go to a master to further study.
Taoist Quiet Skills. Quiet Gong Techniques
In order to help readers further understand the specific Chinese Taoist practice methods and the actual needs for practicing Taoist Kung Fu techniques, the Chinese Taoist Quiet Gong Techniques are disclosed here.
1. The Taoist practice of Jing Gong starts from Jing Gong. In fact, all levels of Kung Fu practice are inseparable from the role of Jing Gong, including each stage. Levels and different aspects of the same level are all played by static exercises. Therefore, the importance of static exercises in Taoist practice can also be considered as the most basic starting method among Chinese Taoist exercises. . Among the qigong that is popular in society, it is the most advanced method. The difference in level between cultivation and qigong can be seen here.
2. The way of quietness. p>Taoist cultivation lies in cultivating the essence, Qi, and spirit within the body. External postures and movements are not important. As long as the head and spine are straight, comfortable and natural, that is the biggest principle. ) or lying down (it’s better to lie on your side), the requirements are:
① The eyes should be slightly closed.
It is easy to have distracting thoughts when the eyes are opened. It is easy to fall asleep, which is not conducive to tranquility. The mantra at this time is "open three and close seven". The specific method has been oral in the past. Here, it is to droop your eyes naturally to see the things in front of you but not be able to distinguish them clearly. To save.
② Listening back with both ears.
Listening back is to listen inside, shutting out all interference from the outside world, just like a person in a state of complete silence, listening inside. The meaning of inner listening is not to listen to sounds. It is to concentrate on the rhyme of the ear and focus on the inner mind, so as to calm the mind and make people calm.
③The mouth must be closed.
Dui means mouth, and saidui means shutting up. He is asked to close his mouth and teeth and forget to speak in silence.
④Put your tongue against the roof of your mouth.
That is, roll the tongue back and press the bottom surface of the tongue tip against the roof of the mouth. Because there are two small pits on the upper palate, which are called "Tianchi points", and the mud balls on the upper palate are most likely to leak Shen and Qi. Therefore, touch it with your tongue, just like a baby suckling.
⑤ Breathe naturally.
As the level of static practice continues to deepen, the breath should gradually become deep, long, even, thin and subtle. After meeting the above requirements, you can gradually practice the skill of "listening to the breath". The so-called "listening to the breath" means listening to your own breathing. In the initial practice, just listen with your ears without thinking. But it does not require you to stick to your ears or listen to the sound of breathing. As long as you follow the path of exhaling and inhaling, and slowly understand it half-hearing but not listening, this is considered to be the method. As for the speed, thickness, depth, length, etc. of breathing, you cannot use your mind to forcefully control it. After listening to it, my heart and breath gradually fell in love with each other, distracting thoughts disappeared unconsciously, and even my breathing seemed to no longer exist, and I gradually reached a state of tranquility.
3. Levels of Jing Gong
Taoist Jing Gong has three major levels, all of which must be verified step by step:
①Body tranquility.
When the body does not move, it is called body tranquility. When doing meditation, don't wear tight clothes, let alone be nervous. Relaxing your body and mind will naturally help you enter tranquility. When you do it just right, even though the practice time is long, you won’t feel irritated and your body won’t feel unbearable. As long as you can sit still, do it easily, or even feel comfortable and unwilling to move anymore, then your body has been quieted, which is called body tranquility. Body tranquility is the first level of tranquility.
② Calm your mind.
If your thoughts do not move, it is called a calm mind.
After achieving physical stillness, the thoughts in the mind have not yet been completely cleared. , at this time, use the above-mentioned method of listening to the breath to listen to the breath with the heart and unite the heart and Qi. At this time, there are no distracting thoughts in the mind, all fate is let go, there is no recall of the past, no worries about the present, no plans for the future, and the brain nerves completely enter a state of nothingness, which means that the inner world is quiet. If there is no thought in the mind, the mind is calm. Calm mind is the middle level of Jing Gong.
③ Peace of mind.
Not knowing that I exist is called tranquility. After there is no thought in the mind, there is still a "me" that is not completely clean. Going a step further, by uniting the heart and Qi, you can forget yourself and enter the realm of chaos. Empty but not empty, existing but not existing, so it is called chaos. Only when you have reached the level of selflessness can you truly enter tranquility. Achieving tranquility of mind is the highest level of Jing Gong.
Qigong masters talk about quietness, and success is achieved if the body does not move. It is difficult to grasp the inner thoughts deeply and can only keep the body still. Moreover, the emphasis on thoughts makes it even more difficult to achieve a calm mind. Such an approach only reaches the first level. When most people talk about Jing Gong, they can only reach the middle level when their thoughts are still, that is, the state of calm mind. Only the true Taoist practice of Jing Gong, after stilling the body, further cultivates the tranquility of the mind. It also believes that the tranquility of the mind is not complete, and it is necessary to practice the quietness of the mind in depth to achieve the true state of Jing Gong. This shows the brilliance of the Chinese Taoist Kung Fu. . The so-called mysterious and mysterious in Taoism means that apart from dividing Jing Gong into three levels of practice: primary level, middle level and high level, there is no end to it. There is still the highest level, which can lead to enlightenment and transcendence; that is, attaining the Tao in one's own body. However, this is a matter of "Tao Gong" and is beyond the reach of ordinary people, so I will not mention it here.
The above-mentioned three levels of body tranquility, mind tranquility, and mental tranquility may seem ordinary, but they are not ordinary. Some people mistakenly believe that doing static exercises favors sex exercises and has nothing to do with life exercises, but this is not the case. The secret of Taoist Jing Gong points directly to the true meaning of cultivation. The Dan Shu says: "The day when the body does not move, you refine the essence, the day when the mind does not move, you refine the energy, and the day when the mind does not move, you refine the spirit." It can be seen that the three levels of foundation-building quiet skills have integrated the skills of refining essence, energy, and spirit. Taken together, it becomes a great practice. Refining essence is to replenish essence, refining qi is to replenish qi, and refining spirit is to replenish spirit. Therefore, by building the foundation through meditation, we can make up for the loss of the three treasures of energy, energy, and spirit, until we reach the point where "when the energy is full, we no longer think about desire, when the energy is full, we don't think about food, when the spirit is full, we don't want to sleep." This is also the true meaning of alchemy manual foundation building. Where the purpose lies.
The inner secret of Jing Gong
(1) Listening to the breath
The purpose of Jing Gong is to enter tranquility. The meaning of tranquility is to calm down the body and mind. In order to achieve the requirements of tranquility, you must first get rid of all distracting thoughts. This is the most critical principle of the foundation-building method of tranquility. However, due to people's thinking habits, the brain is always thinking about problems and will dream even when sleeping. Once it stops, it is difficult to do so. In order to achieve the purpose of tranquility, ancient Taoist monks created many methods, such as listening to the breath, sitting and forgetting, keeping one breath, counting breaths, etc. In comparison, the "listening to the breath" method mentioned by Zhuangzi in Taoism is the best.
The so-called "listening to the breath" means listening to your own breathing. As we said before, Jing Gong requires natural breathing. The method of listening to the breath is to listen within the ears, that is, to block out all interference from the outside world, as if entering a state of complete silence, to listen to your own breathing. At the beginning, just listen with your ears without adding any thoughts.
Note: The so-called "listening to the breath" requires the ears to listen back inward, as if listening to the sound of breathing in and out. But breathing in and out originally required silence. The meaning of "listening to the breath" is to ask for concentration and concentration; it does not mean to guard the ears tightly, nor to listen to the sound of breathing. The meaning of "listening" is to concentrate. As long as you follow the line of exhalation and inhalation,
and do it slowly without listening, it will be considered correct. As for the speed, thickness, depth, and length of your breathing, you should let it change naturally and don't force it with your thoughts.
After hearing it, my heart and mind were connected, distracting thoughts disappeared, and even my breathing seemed to no longer exist, and I gradually reached the state of "quietness".
(2) Sightseeing
The method of "sightseeing" is a Taoist secret cultivation method. It was not taught secretly in the past and was passed down from master to disciple. The purpose of sightseeing is to refine your nature. Our nature was originally a light in the void, coming from the universe before our next birth. Therefore, this is the fundamental method of cultivating one’s nature, which is called Xing Gong. Some people think that the "Xing" Kung Fu taught by Taoism is just the truth, and that there is no Kung Fu because the Xing Kung Fu has not been taught by an enlightened master.
The root of human nature lies in the hole between the eyes. This orifice comes from before we were born, so it is called the "ancestral orifice". First, sit quietly for a while and use the "listening and breathing" method mentioned above. After the body and mind have entered tranquility, the light in the two eyes will be withdrawn, and it will appear to be contemplating but not contemplating, and it will stop in front of the ancestral orifice. This "ancestral orifice front" is neither inside nor outside the body, but is about an inch and a half in front of the eyes.
Note: The method of "viewing the ancestral orifice" mentioned is to gather one's own original nature. When the original nature is gathered together, it will naturally see the light. But this realm is natural and should never be pursued. If you pursue it, you will see the light, but it is an illusion, not the truth. Many people who practice qigong often enter the devilish realm here, and without realizing it, they are really missing a thousand miles. It is necessary to use the meaning of "if there is something, if there is nothing, it seems to be seen but not seen". It cannot be intentional or unintentional. Naturally, that's right.
If your mind is slightly focused on the ancestral orifice, your own sexual light may appear.
At first, it is dotted, drifting, and its light is weak, so don't worry about it; it seems to come from outside at first, and after it appears, you can use your mind to slightly illuminate it and concentrate on it, that is, shine it in the white light with your true intention. This is the gathering nature. The power; then gradually condenses into pieces from points, and the pieces come from the outside to the inside, and slowly gather together; then they gather and disperse sometimes, making it difficult to fix; in this way, they finally become one piece without fluctuations. Such true nature is gradually gathered, and we have entered great tranquility. Light is the expression of nature, and sightseeing is knowing the gathering and dispersion of one's own nature. The scattering nature of light means dispersion, the converging nature of light means gathering, the steadiness of light means concentration, the fullness of light means fullness, and the roundness of light means roundness. Patriarch Wang Chongyang originally described its perfect shape and said: "Yuan Tuo Tuo, the light is scorching." Round means that it has no irregular shape, and scorching means that it has no black holes. Only in this way can we achieve "perfect nature and light." the highest state. Entering this realm, life and death can be controlled independently. But if you don’t go deep into great concentration and possess extremely high merit, it will be impossible to achieve it.
Although the "observation" method is used in sightseeing, it is not actually observing, everything is natural. To practice this skill, one must proceed step by step, from small light to large light, from weak light to strong light, from fluctuation to light concentration, from patches to light concentration. There are also people who have been practicing for many days and their eyes are dark but they have never seen the light, so they cannot pursue it.
Note: What is mentioned above is the way of "listening" and "sightseeing". Although it seems to be action, it is actually inaction; in inaction, everything is done. Although it is said to be listening, there is actually no listening; although it is said to be sightseeing, there is actually no observation. There is no interest in listening, and there is nothing in listening; there is no light in sightseeing, there is nothing in light. Breath without breath is called true Qi; light without light is called true nature. Only through enlightenment can you enter the true way.
Static practice and daily life
The level of cultivation achievements is inseparable from daily life. Therefore, in daily life, how to arrange oneself to ensure the effect of cultivation is an important issue worth noting. The more important aspects are summarized into the following ten aspects:
1. The Noise and Silence of the Environment
Whenever you practice Kung Fu, you should first choose the environment. The best place is between mountains, seas, forests and springs, followed by the wilderness in the countryside. It is not suitable for places with noise pollution in downtown areas. Such as the sound of people, cars, noises, hawking, roaring machines, celebration gongs and drums, stereo horns, opera singing, children crying, etc., should be avoided. This keeps the ears clean and the auditory nerves free from stimulation.
2. Clean air
The air around the work should be very fresh, and preferably have a natural smell. Avoid all filthy smells, such as rotten gas, moldy gas, gasoline gas, kitchen gas, paint gas, chemical liquid gas, heavy cosmetic gas, pesticide gas, etc., which are all harmful. The simpler the furniture in the house, the better. Too many furnishings can easily emit bad smells. Where plants are lush, there is no pollution and the air is good for people. In this way, the root of the nose is quiet and the olfactory nerve is not stimulated.
3. Light and Darkness
As for indoor light, ancient practitioners emphasized the balance of yin and yang, not to make it too strong. Too bright or too dark light is not suitable. When starting to do the exercises, for the sake of entering tranquility, it is only too bright and not too dark. Indoor paints, stuccoes, wallpapers, curtains, etc. should all use light colors instead of bright reds and greens. Lighting should not be too bright. In this way, the roots of the eyes are quiet and the optic nerve is not stimulated.
4. The intensity of the taste
Food seasoning should not be too strong. All flavors should be thinner than usual. Very umami and inappropriate. It is better to boil and steam more. It is better to braise and fry less. It is best to abstain from tobacco and alcohol, so that the base of the tongue is quiet and the taste nerves are not stimulated.
5. Warmth and coldness of climate
Climate conditions have a great influence on people who do work. When it is too hot, too cold or when the weather is humid and humid, it will be difficult to achieve effective results. **When there is thunder and lightning, you should stop doing exercises to prevent your soul from being frightened away. If there is a stove indoors. Do not close the doors and windows too tightly to allow outdoor air to flow in, but you must also prevent the cold wind from blowing directly on you.
6. Nutrition of food
Although various foods containing protein are beneficial to the body, you must also consider whether they can be digested, otherwise eating more will be harmful. All other nutritional supplements must also be properly matched. Unhygienic bits and pieces of food should also be banned. Do not indulge in temporary cravings and harm your health.
7. Isolation of the outer edge
During special work, the outer edge should be isolated. However, family life and the things you need to handle should also be arranged in advance to avoid being in a hurry. During the period of doing the exercises, relatives and friends should meet less often, and they should try to keep in touch with outside matters as much as possible. They should answer less phone calls, write less letters, and watch less TV. In this way, the mood can be stabilized, the nerves are often in a quiet state, and the kung fu can be easily effective.
8. The sustenance of thoughts
It is best not to read books that require too much brainpower or are boring. Books with complex algorithms and many numbers are even more unpalatable to the human eye. If you use reading as a pastime, you can freely read ancient cultivation works, landscape travel notes, fairy stories, notebook novels, etc., or recent travel articles, health books, etc. When you are doing the exercises, your thoughts are pinned on the experience of the exercises; when you go for a walk, your thoughts are pinned on the surrounding scenery; every time you eat, your thoughts are pinned on the aroma of the food; doing Tai Chi and the like When doing Qigong, your thoughts are focused on the movement of the limbs.
9. Time to study
Zi (11 a.m. to 1 p.m.), Noon (11 a.m. to 1 p.m.), Mao (5 a.m. to 7 a.m.), and You (5 p.m. to 7 p.m.) It is best to do the practice at a certain hour, or when you first wake up in the middle of the night. You can do whatever you want during the rest of your free time. If you use sitting exercises, you should do it for at least half an hour and no more than two hours (for ordinary people). If you use lying down, the time does not matter. However, when you are full after eating and have not yet digested it, you should not sit still immediately, nor fall down to sleep. You should move your body a little, and then do the exercises after half an hour.
10. Body posture
When doing exercises, no matter what posture you are in, you should keep your head and spine upright to avoid oppressing the five internal organs. In addition, pay attention to relaxing the whole body as much as possible, so as to achieve a state of complete tranquility.
The above ten aspects can be used to improve your practice. Even if you don't specialize in cultivation, if you can persist in practicing it, you will definitely have the effect of curing diseases, keeping fit, and prolonging your life.
Static Gong and Qigong
Static Gong focuses on the word "quiet", and there is no need to work on "qi"; Qigong focuses on the word "qi", which may not necessarily Can comply with the principle of "quietness". Take a look at the qigong spread throughout society. Most of the qigong methods use thoughts, either to guide movements or to guide qi movement, or movements, qi movements, and thoughts are all mixed together. It can be seen that although there are many methods of Qigong, it is always necessary to use thoughts and then add Qi movements. Jing Gong is completely quiet, and you just let nature take its course when it comes to Qi. You don't use your own thoughts to control the movements. If you have thoughts to make them move, the meaning of "quietness" is lost. In comparison, static gong has a higher starting point than qigong. Many qigong regard tranquility as the top level skill of their school; but among the Chinese Taoist practices, tranquility is only the initial foundation-building skill. It can be seen that there are differences in levels between Jing Gong and Qigong.
The pros and cons of static gong and qigong are also different. If Qigong is done well, it can cure diseases and keep fit; if it is not done well, not only old diseases will not be cured, but new ones will increase. If you do static exercises legally, you can naturally cure diseases that are difficult to cure with medicine; if you do it illegally, you can get some physical and mental benefits; to say the least, even if there is no big effect, it will definitely not cause new problems. It can be seen that qigong has advantages and disadvantages, while static gong has advantages and disadvantages. Some qigong, although there is also meditation. But in terms of its essence, the meditation method of Qigong does not conform to the principles of Taoist meditation. Qigong meditation, although the body is sitting there motionless on the outside, but their thoughts are used in the body without rest. Although it is called meditation, it is actually still in the dynamic aspect, and it cannot be regarded as true meditation.
For the treatment of various diseases, the effect of Qigong is inseparable from meditation. Without meditation, the effect of Qigong is difficult to guarantee. For example, gastric ulcer and neurasthenia can be completely cured by Qigong alone without using Qigong. Even if Qigong is not used, Qigong can completely cure them. This is actual experience, and experience is not rare. In recent years, qigong, which has been effective in curing diseases, actually always includes the function of static exercises, which plays an important role invisibly and has a great relationship. After recovering from an illness, most people think it is the effect of qigong. They do not know that meditation subtly plays a leading role in restoring health, while qigong only plays a supporting role. Therefore, when it comes to treating diseases, Qigong and Jing Gong cannot be separated. People who have practiced Qigong and further study the foundation-building Jing Gong method will reach a new level for physical health, longevity and improvement of spiritual realm.
