At the meeting, the Provincial Meteorological Observatory issued a flood forecast. At that time, Zheng Yuanyuan proposed that there would be a flood in the Huaihe River. Everyone is worried about it. Eleven years have passed since the Huaihe 9 1 flood, and "Wolf is coming" has been heard several times. Is the flood really coming? Zheng Yuanyuan carefully analyzed the forecast data, consulted with the directors of the Central Meteorological Observatory and the surrounding provincial meteorological observatories, discussed the weather analysis opinions, and affirmed the conclusion of the Huaihe River flood forecast that "the wolf is coming". After entering Mei, there was a continuous heavy precipitation in our province, and flood peaks hit the Huaihe River again and again. In order to make an accurate weather forecast, Zheng Yuanyuan worked overtime during the foreman's period, especially before and after Wangjiaba flood diversion. The other two directors of the Bureau of Directors all served in the front line of flood control, and she provoked the beam of forecasting service in her work. On the day of Wangjiaba flood diversion on July 3, at 4 pm, the surrounding meteorological stations, the Central Meteorological Observatory and the Japanese numerical forecast did not predict that there would be heavy precipitation in our province in the future. According to the results of the development of forecasting system at provincial stations and combined with its own forecasting experience, Zheng Yuanyuan decisively issued a rainstorm warning along the Huaihe River and Huaibei River, and within 24 hours, there was heavy precipitation at 10 station along the Huaihe River and Huaibei River. On the afternoon of July 4, she analyzed the real-time radar data by using the 6-hour radar rolling precipitation estimation method, and concluded that there may be waterlogging in Chuzhou and other places in the next 6 hours. Within five hours that night, Chuzhou was hit by heavy rain.

As the chief forecaster, at the critical moment of flood control, he should not only make accurate forecasts by himself, but also strengthen technical guidance to meteorological stations in all cities of the province. Zheng Yuanyuan keeps in touch with stations in cities such as Lu 'an and Chaohu Lake through streaming media broadcasting and video systems, reports rain and floods, and listens to the demands of local government departments for meteorological services. According to the position of rain belt and rainfall intensity, different technical guidance will be given to relevant stations in time. For the problems that should be paid attention to in plain and mountainous stations, Zheng Yuanyuan promptly reminded us to provide early warning and forecasting services for waterlogging, floods, geological disasters and reservoir safety. July 8th, 9th and 10 are the most critical choices for the safety of the Huaihe River. At the same time, heavy precipitation is concentrated in Chaohu Lake and Dabie Mountain area, and the flood control situation is urgent. A strong sense of responsibility urges Zheng Yuanyuan not to let go of every weather process, do a good job in every forecasting service and give effective forecasting guidance. According to the forecast that there will be 40 ~ 60mm precipitation in the future in Baihu area, the provincial defense index ordered that all personnel in the flood storage area east of Baihu Lake be quickly transferred to safety. When the rainstorm came to White Lake again, more than 7,000 people were moving safely. Due to outstanding achievements in flood fighting and emergency rescue, Anhui Provincial Party Committee and Provincial Government awarded Comrade Zheng Yuanyuan the title of "Advanced Worker in Flood Fighting and Emergency Rescue in the Province in 2003".

In order to do a good job in forecasting service, Zheng Yuanyuan voluntarily gave up his rest and followed the leaders of the provincial bureau to Jinzhai, located in Dabie Mountain area, to guide the forecasting work in the front line of flood control. At that time, the water level of Meishan Reservoir stopped rising, and some evacuated people were eager to return home. Chen, the county magistrate of Jinzhai County, is very concerned about the future weather. Zheng Yuanyuan told them: According to the latest meteorological data analysis, there will be no heavy precipitation in Jinzhai County tonight, so you can have a good sleep. Suddenly, Chen county magistrate relaxed a lot of nervous expression. He immediately called the county flood control headquarters and made new arrangements for the work. Zheng Yuanyuan was deeply moved by her personal experience. She said this from the bottom of her heart: I have never felt that the weather forecast has such a great influence on the decision-making of leaders. Weather forecast is a guide for government leaders to make flood control decisions. It seems that it is really exaggerated. I deeply feel that my burden is heavier and my responsibility is greater.
