What are front, cold front, warm front and static front? What's their respective weather performance?

edge

It is a narrow and inclined transition zone between cold and warm air masses. Because the temperature front and humidity between different air masses are very different, and this difference can be extended to the whole troposphere, when two air masses with different properties meet in the process of moving, there will be an interface between them, called front. The line where the front intersects the ground is called the front. Fronts and fronts are generally called fronts. The front can also be understood as the confrontation between two different air masses. Due to the great difference of air mass properties on both sides of the front, the air near the front is active, the front fluctuates strongly, and the airflow is extremely unstable, which often causes bad weather changes. Therefore, the front is one of the important weather systems.

According to the thermodynamic classification method, if a cold air mass actively pushes a warm air mass, it is called a cold front. On the contrary, it is called warm front. If the cold and warm air masses are equal, it is called quasi-static front stop. If the cold front catches up with the warm front, it will form a closed front.

cold front

During the movement of the front, the cold air mass plays a leading role, pushing the front to move to the side of the warm air mass, and this front becomes a cold front. A cold front is what people often call a cold air front. It is Depth Charge with cold air heading south, and it is the most common weather system that affects China, especially in winter. Every few days in winter, a cold air invades the inland from northwest and north China. When the cold front crosses the border, it will be accompanied by the increase of northerly wind, the increase of air pressure and the decrease of temperature, which will sometimes cause rain and snow and even cause heavy rain in summer. Generally, after the cold front crosses the border, the local area will be controlled by cold high pressure, and the weather will become sunny.

warm front

Warm front refers to the front that warm air pushes the front to move to one side of the cold air mass during the front movement. After the warm front crossed the border, the warm air mass occupied the position of the original cold air mass. Warm fronts are mostly active in northeast China and the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, and are often accompanied by cold fronts. When the warm front crosses the border, it is warm and humid, the temperature rises, the pressure drops, and the weather turns cloudy and rainy. Not a cold front. The warm front moves slower than the cold front, which may cause continuous precipitation or fog.

stationary front

When the cold air mass from the north and the warm air mass from the south are evenly matched and have the same intensity, their collision zone rarely moves, and this front is called static front. Often when the cold air mass is slightly stronger, it moves south, and when the warm air mass is suddenly stronger, it pushes north, making the front swing from north to south, also known as quasi-static front. The static front that affects this city often appears in spring, early summer (rainy season) and autumn, and the continuous rainy weather and rainy season in spring and autumn are caused by the static front.
