Shannan region is located in the valley of the middle reaches of the Yarlung Zangbo River, and belongs to the temperate semi-arid and semi-humid plateau monsoon climate, with the characteristics of long winter without summer, no severe cold in winter and no hot summer in spring and autumn. The average annual temperature is 5 ~ 8℃, the average temperature in the coldest month is 2 ~ 12℃, and the average temperature in the warmest month is 1 ~ 18℃. It is one of the warmer areas in the whole Tibetan Plateau. The rainy nights on the plateau are the remarkable characteristics of the whole plateau weather. Especially in Shannan region, during the rainy season from June to September every year, the probability of rain at night exceeds 7%. The best travel time: April to the end of October is not a particularly recommended season to go to Shannan, but for the sake of convenient transportation, April to the end of October is the best.
