How do we measure the temperature, rainfall and wind direction in the main city? How did the meteorological staff get these data? The reporter came to this observatory yesterday to find out.

Automatic data collection

The staff said that the surface temperature refers to the temperature of the ground, and the temperature we usually say refers to the temperature of the ground 1.5 meters. Thermometers must be placed in blinds to avoid direct sunlight and in a naturally ventilated environment.

Field detection instrument

The staff took the reporter to the observation deck. This big "roof" of about 65,438+000 square meters is covered with grass. The reporter saw an instrument for measuring rainfall: a black hollow cylinder with a height of about 1 m. The top of the cylinder is sunk into a cone, and the rainwater flows into the beaker in the cylinder along the small hole. Once the rain enters, the pointer will mark the data paper with ink.

In this 100 square meter grassland, the most special site is the ground temperature measurement site. A piece of soil about 10 square meter is also protected by iron railings. There are three thermometers neatly on the ground. There are three thermometers on a wooden shelf next to them, and one end of these thermometers has been inserted into the soil.

"This is to measure the temperature under the surface of the earth." According to different needs, the thermometer is inserted into the ground at different depths. The blue line next to it is also buried in the soil, and the other end is connected with a white box with geothermal transmitter written on it. The staff said that after the temperature measurement, the record will be automatically sent to the computer for storage through the transmitter.
