But after a long-distance test drive of a Tesla Model3 a few days ago, I have to admit that my resistance to electric vehicles began to waver.

If there is one factor that has reversed my view of electric vehicles to the greatest extent, it must be the driver assistance system of Model3. I knew about this system before, but at that time I thought it was just a little better than other brands' assisted driving intelligence, and it turned out not to be.

The Model 3 of this test drive is a standard endurance version, but it is also equipped with automatic assisted navigation and driving, automatic parking and other functions. The owner should have spent 64,000 yuan to install the FSD (fully automatic driving function package). It was an unexpected surprise to get this car.

Its assisted driving mode is very simple: in the D gear, you can automatically enter the active endurance state by pushing the gear lever down twice, and then you only need to slide the wheel on the back of the steering wheel to adjust the speed without the driver stepping on the brake or electric pedal. As long as the front car stops, it will automatically stop, and even adjust the speed according to the traffic situation.

But these are not enough to impress me, because there are many models on the market with adaptive endurance function. What interests me more is the automatic lane change: when the steering lever is pulled to give it a manual action instruction, the car will automatically turn according to the distance and speed of the vehicle before and after the lane change. However, you need to put your hand on the steering wheel in the above process, otherwise the system will warn you not to put your hand on the steering wheel after more than 15 minutes. If the driver still doesn't follow the instructions, he will pull over by himself.

This Model 3 can also drive itself at high speed, and can also use the automatic parking function in the parking area. However, Tesla's automatic parking is not much different from most smart cars with this function. Whether it is vertical or horizontal parking, it can also realize accurate reversing and warehousing. However, some details need to be improved, such as the inability to customize parking spaces and the inability to stop automatically when the road is not painted with white lines; Moreover, after getting used to the navigation of Android system, you will feel uncomfortable with the navigation that comes with this car, and some road conditions will not be displayed.

At the same time, the car is very easy to use in practical use, the acceleration is linear, and there is no feeling of channeling. After switching to the standard mode, the switch pedal will be more sensitive and accelerate more directly. In addition, when the vehicle speed is lower than 60km/h, there is basically no need to step on the brake frequently, because its kinetic energy recovery is strong and it is more stable than stepping on the brake pedal.

Life is really anxious.

Mileage anxiety is actually the reason why I didn't consider electric cars before. This trip is about 370 kilometers from Shanghai to Wuhu, and it usually takes about 4 and a half hours. This standard battery life Model 3 (fully charged about 350 kilometers) needs to be charged once in the middle, and the battery life is less than 70 kilometers when approaching the destination, so it actually takes more than 6 hours to recharge (it takes about 40 minutes to charge from 20% to 80%).

As far as time cost is concerned, it is not worth it. Fortunately, it is not expensive to charge twice, which is about 70 yuan in total, which can save more than half of the fuel cost for ordinary fuel vehicles. In addition, in the middle of the storm, air conditioners and wipers actually consumed part of the battery life.

But to be honest, if there is a need for long-distance travel, I still recommend the long-life version or the high-performance all-wheel drive version. At least for trips within 400 kilometers, you don't have to worry about finding a charging pile, and you don't have to waste time charging. If it is a four-wheel drive version, you can enjoy a more pleasant driving experience.

Android is relatively easy.

When entering the car, you can find that the UI design of Model 3 car is very simple, and the common functions such as vehicle settings and air conditioning control are placed in the main menu interface for easy searching, but I didn't find the navigation close button, and finally it was closed through the voice control system ..... Then this voice recognition system can only be described in general, which not only needs to be called by pressing the wheel on the steering wheel, but also has not high recognition accuracy and is not "intelligent" enough. Compared with some smart cars in China, it is almost meaningless.

This car also comes with a few small games, but I didn't try them out because of the limited conditions. There are few other entertainment functions, and the system does not support downloading third-party software. Not as easy to use as Android, it would be better if more entertainment options could be added in the later upgrade.

So before opening Model3, I didn't care about electric cars, and even thought that in the next 10 year, electric cars would definitely not appear in my candidate list. Although this Model 3 still has some slots, there are still some problems.
