The county has jurisdiction over 5 towns, 5 townships, 5 urban communities, 46 rural communities and 70 village committees, and there are 23 ethnic groups including Han, Lisu, Yi, Dai and Achang.

Longling is a Gaoligong mountain system in the southern extension of Hengduan Mountains in western Yunnan, surrounded by Nujiang River and Longchuan River, with high mountains and deep valleys, criss-crossing gullies, 98% of which are mountainous, with a forest coverage rate of 73.62%, an annual average temperature of 15.0 degrees Celsius and an annual average rainfall of 212.6 mm, which is called "the mountain".

The national exploitable hydropower resources will reach more than 6.5438+0.59 million kilowatts. By the end of 2020, the county's installed hydropower capacity will reach 6.52.1.10.00 million kilowatts (including half of the installed capacity of the boundary river).
