Computer Research Institute of National University of Defense Technology-

The operation speed of Yinhe -I 1983 is 1 100 million times per second.

The operation speed of Yinhe-II 1 994 is1100 million times per second.

The operation speed of Yinhe-Ⅲ1997 is1300 million times per second.

In 2000, the operation speed of Yinhe IV was 654.38+0 trillion times per second.

Galaxy-ⅴ is studying the computing speed per second? Billion times (military) 1 992165438+10/9 "Yinhe II"/kloc-0 billion times supercomputer developed by National University of Defense Technology passed the national appraisal in Changsha.

It has achieved a leap from vector supercomputer to processing parallel supercomputer, becoming the third country to realize 1 100 million supercomputer after the United States and Japan. During the period of 1994, Yinhe ⅱ supercomputer was put into medium-range weather forecast service in the National Meteorological Administration. 1June 1997 19, the "Yinhe Ⅲ" parallel supercomputer developed by National University of Defense Technology passed the national appraisal in Beijing. The machine adopts distributed storage structure, which is oriented to large-scale scientific and engineering calculation and large-scale data processing. The basic word length is 64 bits, and the peak performance is 65.438+0.3 billion times. The machine has a number of domestic leading technologies, and the comprehensive technology has reached the current international advanced level.

At present, only a few developed countries in the world have mastered the development technology of high-performance supercomputers. The successful development of the "Yinhe III" supercomputer has made China step into the world's advanced ranks in this field.

1March, 994, in the fierce market competition, "Yinhe No.3" was formally established. It took more than three years, from June 65438 to June 0997, to successfully develop the "Yinhe III" supercomputer whose system integration technology reached the international advanced level at that time, and realized the leap from multi-processing parallel supercomputer to large-scale parallel processing supercomputer.

In 2000, the Galaxy IV supercomputer consisting of 1024 CPU came out, and its peak performance reached 1.0647 trillion floating-point operations per second, and all the indexes reached the international advanced level at that time, which made the development level of high-end computer system in China reach a new level.

Galaxy series supercomputers have been widely used in weather forecasting, aerodynamic experiments, engineering physics, oil exploration, seismic data processing and other fields, and have produced great economic and social benefits. The National Meteorological Center used the "Yinhe" supercomputer in the medium-range numerical weather forecast system, making China one of the few countries in the world that can issue medium-range numerical weather forecasts for 5 to 7 days.
