Geographical environment of Tai Po District

Tai Po District is located in the middle of the New Territories, starting from Tai Po Kau in the south, reaching Baxianling in the north, bordering Tai Po Mau in the west and crossing Tolo Harbour in the east, including Shi Si Town and Huangzhulang in the north of Sai Kung and Tamen, Peng Zhou and Chizhou in the outlying islands.

In Tai Po, there is a famous inner port of Hong Kong-Tolo Harbour, which is located to the east of Tai Po New Town and to the northeast of Sha Tin New Town. The harbor is southwest-northeast, and the outlet is Qimen Strait, and then the seawater flows into Dapeng Bay.

Plover Bay Freshwater Lake in Tai Wai Tuk is the first large-scale water storage reservoir in Hong Kong, and it is also a good place for people to ride bicycles. Freshwater Lake was originally a big bay-Wan Chuan. There used to be many villages along the gulf coast, but they were demolished during the construction of freshwater lakes in the 1960 s, and some rural sites were buried at the bottom of freshwater lakes.

The famous mountain in Tai Po District is Baxianling in the north, which is also the natural boundary between Tai Po District and North District. In the easternmost part of Saigon North, there is a very prominent mountain called Viper Tip, which is the first of the "three points in Hong Kong". The rest is Yinshan Mountain, and there are several launch stations at the top of the mountain.

The weather in Tai Po District is very humid, and the humidity is often as high as 100% in spring and summer. When the visibility is the lowest, it can only be several meters away. The center of Tai Po District is Tai Po New Town, including Tai Po Market in the old district and Tai Po Center in the new district. The enrollment rate of the population aged 6-65 is 38+08: 93.0%.

According to the historical records of the Ming Dynasty, the ancient Dapu villages in Yilongwan at that time included Tamen, Baisha 'ao, Jiaotang Village, Rong Shu 'ao, Litchi Village, Pan Yong and Taozixian. But most of the current residents migrated after the Qing dynasty moved to the border. There are more than 120 villages built in Qing Dynasty in Tai Po District.

In 1960s, due to the construction of Shuen Wan Freshwater Lake, six original villages (Jiao Xiao, Dajiao, Jinzhupai, Lingtou, Chongwei and Chongbei in Henglingbei Lian Heng) were relocated, and nearly 1000 villagers moved to the land village of Tai Po Market. The villagers in Sanmenzai Village, Baisha Touzhou hope to maintain the original rural community and choose to settle down and settle down in Sanmenzai New Village, Yantianzai, Tai Po.
