Does it rain in Qatar?

Qatar’s winter climate is characterized by not being cold, the temperature is around 20 to 30 degrees, and it rarely rains. Qatar has a tropical desert climate, hot and dry, with humid coastal conditions. The four seasons are not very obvious. Summer is from April to October, which is the longest season of the year. The temperature is the highest from July to September, reaching 45°C, and the winter is cool and dry, with the lowest temperature being 7°C. The average annual precipitation is only 75.2 mm.

The reasons for the formation of Qatar’s tropical desert climate:

First, it is controlled by the subtropical high pressure belt. The subtropical high pressure is a dynamic high pressure. It is formed because the air above the equator continuously flows to and accumulates above the subtropical zone, causing downdrafts and causing the low air pressure to increase. It is a warm high pressure. The main reason for sunny and dry weather in the subtropical region is the prevalence of downdrafts.

Second, it is controlled by dry trade winds. Trade winds are directional winds that blow from the subtropical high pressure zone to the equatorial low pressure zone. Due to the rotation of the earth, the wind direction is deflected, deflecting to the right in the northern hemisphere and becoming the northeast trade wind; in the southern hemisphere, it deflects to the left and becoming the southeast trade wind. In the subtropical region of the Northern Hemisphere, the west coast of the continent is on the leeward side of the northeast trade wind, and the east coast of the continent is on the windward side of the northeast trade wind; similarly, in the subtropical region of the southern hemisphere, the west coast of the continent is on the leeward side of the southeast trade wind, and the east coast of the continent is on the windward side of the southeast trade wind.
