Is Mount Fuji an active volcano?

This is an active volcano.

Mount Fuji has not erupted again for 300 years, so Japanese primary schools in the11990s taught Mount Fuji to be a dormant volcano. However, it was later observed that Mount Fuji still showed signs of activity, and the Japan Meteorological Agency also cancelled the classification of its dormant volcano, but divided it into active volcanoes.

On July 20th, 20 13, Japan Institute of Industrial Technology published the second edition of 199- Mount Fuji volcano geological map (Ver. 1), and the survey data and summary of geological survey data about 15 years, and revised it in 20 16 years. At the same time, in the past 200 years, there have been at least 43 volcanic eruptions of this scale.

The legend of Mount Fuji

In ancient times, an old man who chopped bamboo found a little girl about three inches in the bamboo forest. After taking it home for three months, the little girl turned into a beautiful girl, which attracted many young men to propose to her. Even the emperor joined in the proposal, but they were all rejected.

The child is a fairy in the sky and was sent to earth to atone. On August 15th of the third year, on the full moon night, she returned to the Heavenly Palace after her atonement.

Before leaving, she left the emperor a pack of elixir of life. The heartbroken emperor ordered people to burn the medicine in the nearest place. But this pack of medicine will never burn out, and it keeps smoking. This mountain chosen for burning medicine is called "immortal" or "unique" mountain. In Japanese, "Immortality" and "Buji" are pronounced the same as "Mount Fuji", hence the name Mount Fuji.

Mount Fuji means volcano in Japanese. It is 3776 meters above sea level and covers an area of 90.76 square kilometers. It is located in the south-central part of Honshu, across Shizuoka Prefecture and Yamanashi Prefecture, 80 kilometers east of Tokyo. This sacred mountain by the Japanese has erupted 18 times since it was recorded in writing in 78 1 year. The last eruption was in 1707, and it has been dormant ever since.

Two craters at the top of the mountain form two beautiful volcanic lakes, and there are various caves left by volcanic eruption at the foot of the mountain, some of which are still erupting. The cave wall of Fuyuefeng Cave is covered with stalactite icicles, which is called "eternal snow". When the weather is clear, you can see the natural wonders of Mount Fuji at the top of Mount Fuji.
