Characteristics of Kashgar

Kashgar is surrounded by mountains on three sides and open on one side. South Tianshan Mountain in the north, Pamirs Plateau in the west, Karakorum Mountain in the south and Taklimakan Desert in the east. The alluvial plains of Yarkant River and Kashigar River surrounded by mountains and deserts are like green gems embedded in them. The whole terrain inclines from southwest to northeast. Geomorphic contour lines are composed of stable structural units, such as Tarim basin, Tianshan mountain and Kunlun mountain geosyncline fold belt. The humid airflow in the Indian Ocean is difficult to reach, and the cold airflow in the Arctic Ocean is also difficult to penetrate, resulting in the arid and hot desert landscape in the warm temperate zone of Kashgar.

Kashi region is located in the abdomen of Central Asia, restricted by geographical environment, and belongs to the continental arid climate zone of warm temperate zone. The territory has four distinct seasons, long sunshine, large annual and daily temperature difference, less precipitation and vigorous evaporation. Summer is hot, but the hot summer period is short; There is no severe cold in winter, but the low temperature period is long; It is windy, windy and dusty in spring and summer. Due to the complex terrain and great climate difference, it can be roughly divided into five regions: Kashgar Plain Climate Zone, Desert Desert Climate Zone, Mountain and Hilly Climate Zone, Pamir Plateau Climate Zone and Kunlun Mountain Climate Zone.

3. Characteristics of biological resources:

The plant resources in Kashgar include alpine vegetation, plain oasis vegetation, desert vegetation and swamp vegetation. The area of forest land in the whole region is 35.53 million hectares, including 22.93 million hectares of natural forests, with a forest coverage rate of 2.75%. Tree species include poplar, willow, mulberry, Sophora japonica, phoenix tree, pine, fir, cypress, red willow, Populus euphratica, seabuckthorn and so on. Fruit trees include peaches, apricots, pears, apples, almonds, grapes, figs, pomegranates, cherries, pistachios and walnuts.
