Recent abnormal weather

The main characteristics of severe convective weather in China are high incidence, many types, great intensity and wide influence. China has entered a period of high incidence of strong convection, and the types of strong convection are complex and changeable, including wind and rain, lightning, extreme winds, extreme precipitation, tornadoes and so on. , mainly concentrated in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River. The eastern part of southwest China to Jianghan, Huanghuai, Jiangnan and South China will all be affected.

Thunderstorms and strong winds of magnitude above 10 will occur in some areas, or hail with a diameter above15 mm. Short-term heavy precipitation above 30mm/h, accompanied by thunderstorm, gale, hail or tornado, or any situation that has occurred and may continue. The rainfall range in China is still relatively large, with strong rainfall in many places in the south. The Central Meteorological Observatory continued to issue a blue rainstorm warning. It is predicted that there will be heavy rainstorms in parts of Shanxi, Henan, Chongqing, Hubei, Anhui, Jiangsu, Shanghai, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Hunan, Guizhou and Guangxi. There is heavy rain in northeastern Hunan, southeastern Anhui and southern Jiangsu.

China has entered the high season of severe convective weather. After entering the middle of April, the severe convective weather is obviously more and the extreme is obviously enhanced. The influence range of strong convective weather is different in different periods. This process is a mixed strong convective weather process, accompanied by a large range of lightning and a large range of short-term heavy rainfall. In most areas, there may be hourly rain intensity of 20 ~ 50 mm, strong wind of 7 ~ 10 and local hail. Tornado is a small-scale air vortex produced under strong and unstable weather conditions. The central wind speed can reach 1 00 ~ 200m/s, and the diameter of the lower part of the tornado is generally between several meters and several hundred meters, and the extremely large tornado can reach1km.

After a tornado is formed, it usually lasts for ten minutes to several hours. The attack range is small, but it is very destructive. Because the southwest warm and humid air flow is obviously strengthened, it brings abundant water vapor and heat, and the atmosphere becomes unstable. Coupled with the influence of cold air from north to south, the plateau trough moves eastward, which is easy to trigger the occurrence of strong convective weather and promote the large-scale movement of strong convective weather from northwest to southeast. Such conditions are formed in a large area. Once the cold air in the north moves southward or is triggered by topographic factors, it will trigger convection. With the southward movement of cold air, there will be strong convective weather from northwest to southeast. The same is true of frequent strong convection.
