Oslo agreement issue

Although 199 10 June's Palestinian-Israeli peace talks were initiated when the leader of Likud Party Chamir was the Israeli Prime Minister, they were not reached because of Israel's tough attitude.

Any progress? 1992, Rabin became prime minister again as the leader of the Labor Party. Israel and Palestine have made joint efforts to expand the principle of "land for peace" at the Madrid Peace Conference with practical actions, and further constructed the basic framework of bilateral and multilateral talks on Middle East peace talks.

1At the beginning of 993, Rabin lifted the ban on contact with the PLO, and Israel and Palestine began separate and direct secret negotiations. Through the mediation of the Norwegian government, Palestine and Israel held 14 rounds of negotiations in Oslo, Norway in a highly confidential state, and finally achieved a major historical breakthrough. On September 9th and 10 of the same year, Rabin and Arafat exchanged letters and announced mutual recognition. On September 13, 2003, Palestine and Israel signed the Declaration of Principles on Interim Self-Government Arrangements in Washington, which is the famous Oslo Agreement.

The Oslo agreement is like a dazzling ray of sunshine, shining on the stormy Middle East. According to the spirit of the agreement, in the next few years, the Palestinian-Israeli negotiations made continuous progress: Gaza and Jericho became the earliest autonomous cities in Palestine, and then the scope of autonomy was extended and expanded. The Oslo Accords and its achievements have created a good beginning for solving the Palestinian-Israeli conflict caused by territorial disputes, religious disputes and political conflicts, and have cooled down the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, which has been the longest lasting, widest spread and strongest hot issue since World War II.

However, the situation in the Middle East is like changeable weather. The Oslo agreement has shown its inherent defects in dealing with some problems from easy to difficult. Israel's demand for security and Pakistan's demand for a better life could not be fully met for a while, and disappointment gradually spread on both sides. Palestine and Israel have different interpretations of the agreement, and their negotiating positions are gradually drifting away. At the same time, the anti-peace camps and extremist forces on both sides began to "attack". Rabin also fell under the bullets of his compatriots.

After the Likud Party of Israel came to power, the situation between Palestine and Israel was full of twists and turns, and the Middle East peace process faltered. The large-scale bloody conflict between Palestine and Israel, which began at the end of September 2000, seriously derailed the peace train with the Oslo Agreement as the engine. The number of casualties is rising, and the economic losses are increasing, which has caused a strong spiritual shock and shock to both sides. The ongoing conflict has left people with a lingering fear, and people have doubts about whether the light of peace can come to Palestine and Israel again.

Some people say that the Oslo agreement is dead. This statement is inevitably biased and arbitrary. Admittedly, objectively speaking, the violent conflict that lasted for four years ruthlessly broke the negotiation framework and timetable outlined in the agreement. The agreement that was originally regarded as a "guiding light" has now become a dead letter, and the mutual trust between Palestine and Israel has gradually faded. However, the pursuit of peace embodied in the Oslo Accords and the principle of "land for peace" will not disappear. At present, the overturned Middle East peace train has basically returned to the track, although local sporadic conflicts continue. At this sensitive moment, people need to relive the "Oslo Spirit", because only the unremitting pursuit of peace can alleviate and cure the cross-century pain of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
