Humanized service and standardized management —— A new exploration of dormitory management mode in Nankai University

At present, with the teaching reform and the expansion of the scale of running a school in colleges and universities, the teaching management mode based on class has been diluted by the implementation of credit system and flexible academic system, and the education mode based on student dormitory has emerged as the times require. Student dormitory has become an important place for ideological and political education and quality education of college students. How to use the platform of dormitory as a base for educating students and give full play to its educational function has attracted great attention of colleges and universities. In the socialization reform of logistics services in colleges and universities across the country, Nankai University has also brought the management of student dormitories into the ranks of socialization. A few years later, in terms of ideological and political education and quality education for students, the single logistics dormitory management seems to be somewhat inadequate, while the full-time student cadres are rarely involved in dormitory management. How to effectively connect the two sides has become a difficult point. Facing the complicated situation of students' individualization, social informatization and cultural diversity, how to effectively manage students' dormitories, improve service level and create a new platform for educating people is a concern of university leaders. After full investigation and demonstration, the Party Committee of Nankai University perfected the management mode of student dormitory on June 5438+ 10, 2005. The management and education of students' accommodation are re-assigned to the Student Affairs Office of the Party Committee (School Student Affairs Office), and the property service is still carried out in a socialized way. The student department has a student life guidance center, and the logistics service group has a student dormitory property service center. The student dormitory is divided into two centers, namely, the student life guidance center is responsible for daily management, accommodation distribution and student life guidance, and the student dormitory property service center is responsible for the maintenance, cleaning, security and greening of the student dormitory.

Student life guidance center, affiliated to the Student Affairs Office of the Party Committee, is specifically responsible for the construction of party groups, life guidance, financial management training, dormitory deployment and other work in the student living quarters. It integrates education, service and management, adheres to the working concept of "humanized service and standardized management", and strives to achieve "safety, order, civilization and harmony" in the student living area. Since the reform, the student life guidance center has crossed the operation of "humanized service and standardized management", which contains humanized concept in management, permeates management factors in humanization, introduces a series of new service and management measures, and explores a new dormitory management model.

First, humanized service.

Dormitory managers should focus on providing students with a good accommodation environment and humanized service, combine management with service, and give full play to the functions of "educating people by environment" and "educating people by service". Nankai University Student Life Guidance Center (hereinafter referred to as the guidance center) has launched the following services to solve the practical problems that students encounter in accommodation:

(a) the transformation of dormitory facilities, the establishment of "special nursing dormitory area".

Every spring and autumn, students' sports injuries occur frequently, so it is very important to recuperate in the later stage of injuries. With the renovation of dormitory facilities, many dormitory beds have been changed into integrated furniture, which has improved students' living conditions and brought some troubles to students with mobility difficulties. Therefore, the guidance center chose a dormitory with relatively independent living facilities for renovation and set up a "special care dormitory area". After the renovation, the dormitory is equipped with medical hand-cranked beds, wheelchairs, crutches, escort beds, cable TV and other facilities, which are provided free of charge to students who need to rest due to trauma in the later period. Users only need to provide personal application and hospital non-infectious certificate, and can stay in the "intensive care dormitory area" after being audited by the student office of their department. People with mobility difficulties can be accompanied by family members or classmates, and students can decide the length of hospitalization according to their own recovery. The guidance center assigns a special person to be responsible for the sanitation and bedding cleaning in the area, and contacts the school hospital for regular disinfection.

(B) the integration of dormitory resources, the addition of "student couples room" and "student couples temporary reunion room."

Nankai University has more than 9,400 graduate students, many of whom are married students with both husband and wife studying at school. How to solve the accommodation problem of such students humanely has been puzzling the school. After full investigation, the guidance center integrated dormitory resources and took out a dormitory as a "student couple room" for married graduate students in our school to live in. All married graduate students in our school can submit their applications. After being examined by the Department of Student Affairs and the Graduate Work Department of our school, the guidance center will arrange a "husband and wife room". Every year, during the "May 1" and "Eleventh" long holidays, many graduate students' families come to visit relatives at school. Due to limited income, the burden of accommodation expenses is very heavy. The guidance center makes full use of the allocated rooms, and uses the dormitories scattered in each dormitory as "couples' rooms" to provide married graduate students with "temporary reunion rooms for student couples" free of charge, and arranges family members to stay for two weeks. The introduction of "student couple room" and "temporary reunion room for student couples" has been welcomed by many married graduate students. At present, there are more than 50 couples living in the "Student Couples Room", which can accommodate nearly 100 people each academic year.

(3) Increase living service facilities and provide convenience services.

Dormitory is an important place for students to live and study. It is the duty of boarding apartment to facilitate students' life and create a good living environment. The guidance center is equipped with microwave ovens, Red Cross first-aid medicine boxes, daily tool boxes, life service vehicles, weather forecast columns and other facilities in each dormitory. The addition of such facilities not only improves the living atmosphere in the dormitory area, but also brings convenience to students.

(D) Extend the working arm and build an economical campus.

Every June and July, when students leave school, a batch of clothes and books will be discarded in the dormitory area, which not only wastes resources, but also brings trouble to the cleaning of the dormitory. To this end, the guidance center and student associations jointly launched an initiative to call on graduates to donate their unused clothes, books, old bicycles, etc. to students with financial difficulties in lower-grade families and carry out "love transfer activities." During the summer vacation in 2006, * * * received more than 10000 clothes, more than 4000 books and more than 600 bicycles donated by graduates. In mid-September, the guidance center sorted out these items and donated them to the freshmen of 2006. Students who received bicycles also received repair fees from 20 yuan, and the remaining items were donated to Tianjin Red Cross Society. This activity has been going on for two years and is very popular with students. In the future, the guidance center will make this "love activity" long-term and contribute to the construction of an economical campus.

Second, standardized management.

Standardized management is not only the need of accommodation management, but also can improve its own service level. Orderly management can not only get twice the result with half the effort, but also educate students and cultivate their sense of responsibility and team spirit.

(A) improve modern management science.

Modern management means is the premise of standardized management. To this end, the guidance center has made the following improvements in line with this concept: ① Establish a data management system for student dormitories. In the winter vacation of 2005, the guidance center concentrated on collecting, inputting and modifying the accommodation data, and ordered a set of system suitable for dormitory management from a professional software company and put it into use in time. By using the client of dormitory data management system, the information exchange with financial department can be realized, and the daily deployment of dormitory can be managed by information. In order to make full use of online data, we also set up sub-accounts for relevant departments of the school to enjoy information resources. ② Establish dormitory management and emergency wireless intercom. The guidance center purchased 22 wireless walkie-talkies and distributed them to the duty room of each dormitory and the central control room of the school security office, and established an independent transmitter. The application of the system realizes the information docking between the student dormitory and the central control room of the school security office. As a part of the dormitory emergency mechanism, it is carried by the staff 24 hours a day. Once there is an emergency, the information will be quickly transmitted to the security office, and the security office will send school police to the scene at the first time to deal with all kinds of emergencies quickly. ③ Open online communication channels. Effective communication channels are the premise of doing a good job. Therefore, the guidance center has established a perfect online communication system. The opening of letters and visits mailbox, BBS special edition, the publication of office mailbox and the opening of guidance center website have narrowed the distance with students and improved work efficiency. Smooth communication channels on the Internet can provide face-to-face communication for students' questions and suggestions, and answer all kinds of questions in time.

(B) to strengthen the construction of dormitory management team

① Improve the professional quality of employees. In addition to full-time teachers, the guidance center also hired 65 temporary staff to engage in dormitory management. How to improve the professional quality of this team is related to the service and management level of dormitory management. To this end, the guidance center has established a set of staff training system, and regularly conducts business training for employees, such as fire fighting knowledge, first aid knowledge, post responsibility training for dormitory administrators, and so on. At the same time of training, we also attach great importance to the selection of personnel. We have contacted the education bureaus of various districts in Tianjin and re-employment companies, focusing on hiring retired teachers from primary and secondary schools or people with school work experience to engage in dormitory management. (2) Establish a dormitory inspection team. In view of the phenomenon of illegal accommodation in some dormitories, students are urged to stay in accordance with the regulations. The guidance center set up a dormitory inspection team, and transferred high-quality full-time teachers from various departments to inspect the dormitory accommodation and correct violations.

(C) to strengthen the dormitory safety management

How to create a safe accommodation environment for students is the main responsibility of boarding management. The guidance center has printed "Friendly Tips" and "Fire Evacuation Map" and posted them in each dormitory to remind students of fire prevention and theft prevention, and marked the escape route in the dormitory. Invite Tianjin Fire Bureau to conduct fire drills and students' escape drills in the dormitory area; Conduct regular dormitory safety inspections and store illegal electrical appliances; Carry out publicity and education activities on fire control knowledge and safety common sense from time to time, and show various cases in the form of pictures or posters; Hire a safety officer to be responsible for the inspection and modification of safety projects and file management; Standardize the system of students meeting and the system of large items entering and leaving the dormitory.

Revised the Regulations on the Administration of Student Accommodation.

This Ordinance consists of 7 chapters and 40 articles, with detailed rules for implementation. 1 1 annex. In line with the principle of "student-oriented dormitory management, adhering to the unity of humanization and standardization, education and management, self-discipline and system norms", these Provisions are formulated. During the revision period, the guidance center conducted many surveys and held campus hearings to solicit opinions and suggestions from students and relevant experts. In order to make it easier for students to understand, the management points such as "dormitory safety management" are listed separately in the regulations to attract students' attention, and at the same time, the Detailed Rules for the Interpretation and Implementation of the Regulations are drafted, which are explained in words three times larger than the main chapter. In order to improve this management system, there is also 1 1 annex, which clearly stipulates the problems encountered in dormitory management, so that there are rules to follow and responsibilities are clear.

(5) Start the dormitory culture construction project and create a new education platform.

With the development and change of students' dormitory function, dormitory is no longer just a place to solve students' accommodation in the traditional sense, but is becoming a place to reflect the school study style, school spirit and campus culture. The transformation of dormitory function is particularly prominent in comprehensive universities. Nankai University has more than 9,400 graduate students. As a comprehensive research university with equal emphasis on arts and sciences, liberal arts graduate students mainly gather in dormitory areas to engage in scientific research activities in addition to classrooms and libraries. The dormitory environment and learning atmosphere directly affect their studies. To this end, the guidance center launched a dormitory cultural festival in April 2006 to mobilize students to participate in dormitory management, self-management and service, and create a good learning and living environment. In order to improve the dormitory culture construction, in June, 2006, the guidance center also sent staff to the brother colleges and universities in Shandong Province for investigation, so as to improve the work.

Third, the problems faced and the focus of future work

The guidance center has been exploring and innovating in dormitory management, and made a series of improvements and attempts, but still found many problems in the work. Here are some points for discussion.

(A) the establishment of a long-term mechanism of dormitory culture construction

The transformation of dormitory function puts forward new requirements for dormitory culture construction. How to combine the characteristics of our university to carry out dormitory cultural activities that students love and enjoy, and realize the effective docking of quality education and classroom teaching in dormitory areas is the same problem that colleges and universities are facing at present. This will be the focus and difficulty of accommodation management.

(B) the effective management of dormitory safety

Dormitories are densely populated areas. How to effectively prevent fire, theft and other accidents and ensure the stability and harmony of the campus is the focus of college work. Facts have proved that such problems cannot be fundamentally solved only by relying on institutional constraints and educational guidance. In order to effectively manage the dormitory safety, the guidance center pre-starts the dormitory electricity restriction scheme to manage the students' electricity consumption, that is, it adopts new technical means to effectively control the dormitory electricity consumption, technically limit the illegal electricity consumption and reduce the fire hazard. This scheme has been piloted and will be popularized in the whole school soon. In addition, with the development of digital campus construction in our school, the campus card will be realized soon, and dormitory management can use this card to implement access control, which will effectively reduce the occurrence of cases such as burglary by outsiders.

(C) Legal thinking on dormitory management

Dormitory is a residential area for students, which involves the safety of students' lives and property. When students live in dormitories for their own reasons, school management or other factors, they often take legal measures to safeguard their rights and interests, and cases of students suing their alma mater occur frequently. In dormitory management, such as storing illegal electrical appliances, investigating illegal accommodation, accidental injuries of students, etc. You will encounter relevant legal problems. Therefore, how to run the school according to law and carry out effective dormitory management has become a new difficulty.

In a word, the management mode of college dormitory has its own characteristics and cannot be generalized. The key is to decide according to your own actual situation. It remains to be seen how effective a series of attempts have been made by the dormitory management office of Nankai University.
