Yao Ming, a non-party person, was born on September 12, 1980 in Xuhui District, Shanghai. His ancestral home is Zhenze Town, Wujiang District, Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province. He is a former Chinese professional basketball player and serves as a center.

In April 1998, Yao Ming was selected for the national team coached by Wang Fei and began his basketball career. He won the CBA regular season MVP in 2001, the CBA championship and finals MVP in 2002, and was elected the CBA rebounding and block king three times, and the CBA dunk king twice.

In the 2002 NBA draft, he was selected by the NBA's Houston Rockets as the No. 1 pick. From 2003 to 2009, he was selected to the NBA All-Star team for 6 consecutive seasons (***8 times in his career). He was selected to the NBA All-NBA Second Team three times and to the NBA All-NBA Third Team three times.

In 2009, Yao Ming acquired the Shanghai Men's Basketball Team and became the owner of the Shanghai Sharks Basketball Club. On July 20, 2011, Yao Ming announced his retirement. In 2013, Yao Ming was elected as a member of the 12th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.

Emotional experience

Yao Ming first met Ye Li, a fellow basketball player, when he was 17 years old. In 1999, after Yao Ming finally entered the national team, he asked Ye Li to go out to play but was rejected. Afterwards the two fell in love. On August 3, 2007, Yao Ming and Ye Li officially received their marriage certificate at the Marriage Registration Office in Xuhui District, Shanghai. On August 6, the two held their wedding at the Shangri-La Hotel in Shanghai.

In January 2010, Yao Ming's wife Ye Li was confirmed to be pregnant, and the baby was born before the "World Expo Closing Ceremony" in the same year. On May 21, Yao Ming's wife Ye Li successfully gave birth to a daughter at a local hospital in Houston.

On April 21, 2011, Yao Ming held his first media meeting after returning to China at the Shanghai Meilong Base and announced his daughter's name: Yao Qinlei.
