First, there is a big difference between the north and the south, and the endurance of diesel packages is limited.

After careful consideration, Beijing and Shanghai think that they should be open. After all, this is the special setting of Weimar winter car, just to test whether it works well. At the same time, you can also compare the use effect with Guangzhou.
The results show that the system has no obvious help for mileage, but it has obvious help for charging speed.
The data shows that Beijing and Shanghai have used the Thermal Management 2.0 system, and the rice endurance of more than 520 kilometers only ran more than 290 kilometers, and the endurance discount rate was 56%. Guangzhou does not have this system, but it can run 309km in 400km battery life, and the discount rate of battery life is as high as 77%.

Weimar's official introduction is that this thermal management 2.0 system can ensure the normal operation of the battery pack between -30℃ and 50℃, and can increase the battery life by 100km or 20% at most. The principle is that the diesel package belongs to the external heat source, which does not consume the electricity of the battery itself and can reduce the electricity burden of "hot air conditioning". Moreover, because the battery is in a constant temperature state, it is not only useful when discharging, but also has a faster charging speed. However, when we tried it, the battery life did not get longer. On the contrary, when approaching the terminal, the EX5 in Shanghai and Beijing has a battery life of 0%, and no longer shows the emergency of battery life.
Second, what kind of experience is it when the battery life is below zero?
When Shanghai got off the Shenhai Expressway, the remaining power was 3% and the remaining cruising range was 25km. After a while, the battery charge became 2%, and the battery life became-,that is, it was no longer displayed. When I left the ramp of Shenhai, the power finally became 0%. I don't know how many kilometers left in the battery life.
Fortunately, we changed our destination and went straight to the nearest charging station, Yancheng caohejing Development Zone of State Grid. You are not mistaken. This is caohejing in Yancheng, not caohejing in Shanghai.
Because the charging station is relatively hidden, about 6 kilometers below zero, we finally arrived at the charging station. Teachers in Beijing are more thrilling and the process is different.
Close to the Liuzhangzi service area in Chengde, the battery power has dropped to 0%, but the battery life display is still 34km. This is contrary to the situation in Shanghai, where the battery life first becomes zero. I wonder what Weimar's display logic is? According to reason, when the power is displayed as 0, the battery life should no longer be displayed.
Subsequently, when the battery life was less than 27km (Che Jujun thought it should be 25km), Beijing's battery life also became two horizontal lines. The actual driving distance of this section is 4km, the endurance display is reduced by 7km, the vehicle speed is within 40km/h, and the power failure rate is as high as 1: 1.75. When there is a lack of electricity, everything seems to go wrong.

Third, diesel package and PTC working mode
At the charging station, we found one advantage of the diesel package: the charging speed is very fast. It only takes 1 hour to charge from 0km to 520km! This speed is quite amazing, Tesla's model? It is also difficult to charge the electricity from 0 to full in an hour at the overcharge station.
When charging, I obviously heard the sound of diesel engine working under the back seat, and this 10L fuel tank finally came in handy.
The principle of diesel package is not complicated. By burning diesel oil, the liquid is heated and pumped into the pipeline connecting the battery pack for heating, which can be understood as "floor heating" installed on the chassis of the car, and the energy source is diesel oil. The advantage is that it doesn't consume power batteries, and the disadvantage is that it doesn't feel environmentally friendly.
PTC electric heating, which uses sensitive resistors to convert electric energy into heat energy to heat the battery pack, is also the battery pack heating method adopted by most manufacturers at present, which can be understood as "electric heating" and the energy source is power battery. The advantage is low cost and quick effect, but the disadvantage is too much power consumption.
So, what is the working order of diesel package and PTC?
An official PPT shows that when the battery pack temperature is lower than 5 degrees, PTC starts to work and keeps the battery pack temperature at 5 degrees; During fast charging, PTC keeps the battery pack temperature at 25 degrees. The function of that diesel fuel pack is to keep the temperature of the battery pack at 0 degree when the temperature is lower than 0 degree.
Based on this, we suspect that diesel package doesn't work, but PTC does.
The evidence is that there is cold air when the air conditioner is turned on to 22 degrees, indicating that the diesel engine does not work. At the same time, the power consumption is as high as 21kw h/100 km, which shows that PTC consumes some power.

On the way back, I turned on the air conditioner to 26-28 degrees because I no longer counted my grades. Finally, there was warm air! At this time, the diesel engine should work. Teachers in Beijing responded that the weather was so hot that they could drive to 24 degrees-maybe it was colder in Beijing, and the low temperature inspired the diesel engine to start early.
Tucki G3 won't get hot until 28 degrees. The difference between the two may be the difference between a diesel package.
There is another problem: from Shanghai to Yancheng, the lowest temperature in the whole journey is 9 degrees, not less than 5 degrees. Why does PTC heating system work?
There is only one reason: the temperature of the battery pack is not necessarily the same as the temperature outside the car.

You know, 9 degrees in winter in the Yangtze River Delta is probably worse than 0 degrees in the north. The main reason is high air humidity and active heat exchange. For example, if you sprinkle some alcohol/water on your hands at the same temperature, you will feel colder. Or, running in winter in the north, underwear will feel colder after sweating.
Batteries are similar to people. Its optimum working temperature is 25 degrees, and its upper limit is 38 degrees. 37 degrees and 42 degrees correspond to humans.
Therefore, although the temperature outside the car is only 9 degrees, the temperature sensor in the battery pack thinks that the "somatosensory" of the battery is lower than 5 degrees, so PTC heating is started. This has also caused us to consume a lot of electricity in this trip.
However, Weimar 400 gives a different explanation. A customer service lady said that when the temperature is below 5 degrees, the diesel package will give priority to work to ensure power saving. The diesel oil is used up and then heated by PTC.
This is different from the official PPT statement and our actual experience. We believe that:
The start of heating system is not only related to temperature, but also determined by power consumption. When the air conditioner is set to high air volume, or when driving hard, or when the weather is cold, or when charging quickly, the heating system will start. Low temperature is only one of the excitation conditions, not the only one.
▎ The starting sequence is not necessarily determined by the diesel engine before PTC, but it is still determined by the power consumption. If the electricity consumption was not so large at that time, start PTC first; If the threshold is reached, start the diesel unit again.
The customer service answer may be an ideal state that Weimar engineers hope, but it can't be realized in the current car.
Fourth, is the diesel package useful? Do you want to add?
Is the optional heating package useful? Look at the data first.
If compared vertically, the power consumption of EX5 heating package in Beijing and Shanghai is 21kW h/100km, while the power consumption of the same route in Tucki G3 a week ago was18kw h/100km. Looking at Guangzhou EX5 without heating package, its average power consumption is17.3 kW h/100 km.
Just look at the data in Beijing. The same is the battery life of 520km. Tucki G3 can run 309km at a speed of 72.5km/h; At the speed of 67.8km/h, Weimar EX5 can only jog for 295km-5 km, but its actual cruising range is less 14km.

This shows that if heating package is installed, Weimar's power consumption level is weaker than that of Xiao Peng. If the heating package is not installed, Weimar's power consumption level is slightly better than that of Xiao Peng;
Conclusion: The heating package does not help the battery life obviously, but it obviously improves the charging speed.
Weimar and Tucki both purchased the batteries of Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Ltd. NCM8 1 1, but the difference is that Weimar only purchased the batteries, and the packaging work was completed in its own Wenzhou factory. Theoretically, it can optimize BMS strategy in time and shorten the promotion speed, which is the embodiment of comprehensive strength. In fact, the actual measurement in Guangzhou proves this point: Weimar's battery pack performs better under normal circumstances.
However, in the winter heating package, Weimar's software strategy obviously has room for improvement.
Tucki is a loyal believer of Tesla, so he has a more mature software strategy, so he is confident that PTC will be installed as standard on all G3 systems, while Weimar needs to spend an extra 2,880 yuan to install it. Then, Tucki can realize the energy-saving driving mode in colder regions through software, which is more efficient than Weimar with plug-in.
Conclusion: It is not necessary to install diesel engine units in the south of Huaihe River, but it can be installed in North China according to the situation. The biggest advantage is not to increase battery life but to shorten charging time, and the air conditioner is warmer. In the northeast, it is recommended to install.
