About Singapore’s climate

First of all, Chung Cheng Middle School does not have dormitories. You will live in the dormitory of Deming Government Middle School, which is where I live now.

It was winter when I went to Chongqing. I didn’t know how hot Chongqing is in summer. The highest temperature in Singapore is about 33-35 degrees, which is only when the sun is strongest at noon. It will be hot when walking outside. The dormitory study rooms and reading rooms have air conditioning. Although the dormitories do not, fans are enough. Overall, the climate is quite comfortable.

Most dormitories in Singapore do not have air conditioning. Only a few dormitories have air-conditioned rooms for which you have to pay extra.

As for why there is no air conditioning, firstly, it is for environmental protection. Air conditioning will cause a heat island effect and increase the temperature. How many air conditioners must be installed in the entire dormitory for hundreds of people! In addition, money is also an important factor. I conducted a survey in the dormitory before and found that if air conditioning was installed, no one would have to pay an electricity bill of around SGD 30 per month. The result was that most people were opposed to it (this shows that air conditioning is not really needed), so it was not installed.
