What is the discovery of Xu Jiayao people?

"Xu Jiayao Man" is a fossil of early Homo sapiens in China, which was found near Xu Jiayao Village at the junction of Yanggao County in Shanxi Province and Yangyuan County in Hebei Province, hence its name. 654.38+ million years ago. Fossils of Xu Jiayao people include skull fragments, maxilla and about 20 teeth.

Xu Jiayao people's fossil skulls are all like Beijingers in terms of bone wall thickness, teeth thickness and complex chewing surface. But more features are the same as those of early Homo sapiens. The brain capacity is estimated to be larger than that in Beijing.

The discovery of Xu Jiayao people has filled the gap between "Beijingers" and "intelligent people" and is of great value.

Yanggao County is located in the northeast of Shaanxi Province, surrounded by mountains on three sides, with Yunmen Mountain in the north, Cailiang Mountain in the west and Liulingshan in the south, with two basins in the middle.

Yangyuan County is located in the northwest of Hebei Province, in the transition zone of Loess Plateau, Inner Mongolia Plateau and North China Plain. The combination of Yinshan remnant vein and Hengshan remnant vein. Surrounded by mountains in the north and south, the Sanggan River traverses the whole territory from west to east, presenting a long and narrow basin with two mountains and one river.

This place belongs to the temperate sub-arid area in the continental monsoon climate of East Asia, with four distinct seasons: spring, summer, autumn and winter. In spring, there is less rain, more wind and sand, rapid temperature rise and large daily temperature difference. Summer is hot and short, with many thunderstorms, and winter is long, cold and dry. In this climate, our ancestors, Xu Jiayao people, thrived here.

Because the northern part of the local area is close to the Inner Mongolia Plateau, it is often controlled by high pressure, and the southeast is blocked by Hengshan Mountain and Taihang Mountain, and it is rarely affected by ocean wind, so typhoons, tides and other disasters rarely occur.
