How do bees spend their time buying boxes?
1. Source of honey powder: As packing is a method of forcing bees to migrate, it will inevitably lead to the loss of honey stored in the hive and cause harm to young bees. Therefore, in order to make the bees feel stable after passing through the box and restore the potential energy of the bees as soon as possible, it is necessary to pass through the box when there are more nectar plants in full bloom outside.
2. Climatic conditions: When passing through the box, the beehive should be exposed outside the beehive for a period of time. If the temperature is too high or too low, the young bees will suffocate or freeze to death. Therefore, the box should be placed in sunny and windless weather with the temperature of 25 ~ 30℃, and the exposure time of spleen outside the box should be shortened as far as possible, so that bees will not suffocate and freeze to death, nor will they feel severe and easily stung, so that the box can be placed smoothly.
3. Bee colony conditions: it is required that the spleen of the bee colony is more than two feet after passing through the box, and there are more young bees on the spleen, enough powder honey is stored, and there are no pests and diseases. Box-passing tools Bees box-passing tools include: beehive, barbed wire nest frame, spleen knife (fruit knife, pad (one of which has the same inner diameter and width as the nest frame), rope for binding spleen (nylon rope, hemp skin, etc.). ), bee collector, face net, smoke sprayer, waste nest spleen bucket, towel, basin, etc. , and a set of unpacking tools. The box-passing method requires quick action, short time, light, stable and tidy, and it is best to complete the box-passing within 20 minutes. In order to achieve the above objectives, the operation of the box is best coordinated by three people.
Box-passing method
Turn over the nest and the box, and the original nest turns over the spleen. Now, the box transfer method is introduced as follows:
(1) Turning over the nest and passing through the box The so-called turning over the nest and passing through the box is to turn the beehive to be passed through the box 180 degrees, so that the lower end of the nest spleen is upward, and the bees are driven away from the spleen by the upward characteristic of bees, so that the bees enter the beehive or an empty beehive, and then the spleen is cut and passed through the box. This method can avoid the rupture of the nest spleen and is more convenient to operate. This method can be used for all boxes or beehives that can be turned over or whose bottom and side plates can be opened.
1. Turn over the nest box: move the nest box away from the original place, put an empty box in the original place, and collect the bees that fly back to the nest. Clean the bottom of the hive, then turn it over 180 and put it on the flat ground or on another empty bee. If the original nest is far from the ground, it can be lowered to the position where the beehive is placed after the box is placed, and then the box is placed.
2. Drive the bees away from the spleen: open the bottom plate of the trap box or the end of the bee bucket without the nest door, put on the bee trap and spray smoke to the nest door. After being stimulated by smoke, bees will leave their nests and enter the bee trap. It is best to raise the open end slightly, so that bees can enter the hive faster. Put the bee collector and bees in the original nest, and collect the bees back to the nest.
3. Spleen cutting: Cut the spleen from the base of the spleen with a sharp long knife (such as a fruit knife) and take it out with the palm of your hand. For the useful fossa and spleen, it can be laid flat on the pad without overlapping. For useless nests and spleens (such as old spleens without honey and children), put them in a bucket and keep the wax.
4. Spleen cutting: Spleen cutting is to cut off the part of the nest spleen that is of little value, and cut the good nest spleen neatly so as to tie the spleen. When the spleen is cut, the nest frame can be used for specification cutting, and two or three spleens can be spliced into one spleen. The principles of splenectomy are: removing the old spleen to keep the new spleen, removing the honey spleen to keep the sub-spleen and powder spleen, removing the drone spleen to keep the worker spleen, using a large area of spleen, removing a small area of spleen, and removing the honey spleen on the sub-spleen as much as possible. The upper end of the cut spleen should be close to the upper beam of the nest frame. When multiple spleens are spliced, the spleens should be compact and there should be no gaps.
5. Pinch the spleen: Pinch the spleen is the key to the success or failure of the box, so it must be tied firmly. Put the nest frame made of good iron wire on the cut spleen, and the upper end of the nest spleen must be close to the upper frame beam. Along the lower edge of each wire, draw a small slit on the nest spleen with a knife, the depth of which is half of the thickness of the nest spleen (that is, to the bottom of the nest room). Press the iron wire into the nest spleen with a knife or a small bamboo piece, and tie the nest spleen up to the upper frame beam with a rope. At this time, two people cooperate best. If one has only one big spleen, it can be pricked 2 ~ 3 times. If a frame is made up of more nests and spleens, it should be tied more. The well-tied nest and spleen should be flat and firm. After the spleen is tied, gently wipe the honey stuck to the spleen with a clean wet towel.
6. Pour the bees into the box: put the tied nest spleen into the hive, enlarge the middle and put small ones on both sides, keep the bee path, arrange it neatly in turn, close the hive door, shake the bees into the hive with wrist force, cover it, and put the bees into the original hive.
7. Drive the bees away from the spleen: After about ten minutes, when the bees are stable, they can be unpacked for inspection. If all bees have spleens, you can cover the lid, open the door of the nest, and the bees will start to clean up the dead bees. The box has been successful. If bees do not remove the spleen, they can be driven to the spleen by hand or bee scanning. After the box is finished, the site should be cleaned with water.
8. Management after packaging: If it is suitable for continuous feeding after packaging, put the bees back in their original places. If it is not suitable for breeding, after all bees return to their nests in the dark, move the bees to a place with honey powder sources. Because the hive was destroyed when passing through the box, the honey storage was basically removed. Therefore, the bees should be supplemented and fed continuously for 2 ~ 3 nights on the night after the box is packed, so as to maintain the stability of the bees and speed up the repair of the nests and spleen by the bees. On the second day after passing the box, check the bee colony and handle the problems in time. After a few days, if bees have repaired the nest and spleen, they can remove the rope that binds the spleen. Under the condition of good external honey powder source, we should pay close attention to replenishing spleen and gradually replace some useless old nests and old spleens.
(2), the original nest over the box, the original nest over the box is also called not turning over the nest over the box. For some beehives that cannot be turned over (such as large cabinets, tree holes, wall holes and other beehives). ), you can use this method, as follows. First, open one side of the hive (preferably the side at the end of the nest spleen), gently spray a few mouthfuls of smoke into the hive to drive the bees away from the nest spleen and form a cluster at the other end. Hold the fossa spleen in one hand and the knife in the other, cut the fossa spleen along the base of the fossa spleen, and cut and bind the spleen. The operation is basically the same as turning a nest into a box. When the spleen is removed, if you can pick bees with a bee picker, you can pick bees with a bee picker. If you can't pick bees with a bee picker, you can hold it in your hand or scoop it into a box with fruit pulp. Be careful not to miss the queen bee. You can find the queen bee first, put it in the king's cage and put it on the nest spleen of the hive. If there is no king cage, you can first scoop the queen bee into the hive with a small number of worker bees. Bees boxed in this way had better be moved to other places for breeding.
(3) Borrowing Spleen to Pass the Box Borrowing Spleen to Pass the Box is to extract one or several subpopulations with bee larvae from the bee colony raised in the living frame to the hive to be passed through the box. When the bee colony is introduced into this hive by the daughter spleen, it is easier to accept and the success rate is higher. After cutting off the nest spleen of the original bee colony, tie it up and put it in the bee colony or other bee colonies with borrowed spleen, or put it in the original bee colony, as the case may be. As long as management is strengthened, bees can multiply and grow rapidly. So it can not only solve the source of bee species, but also increase the number of bees. Box-passing technology is an important technology in new breeding, and every beekeeper should master it skillfully.
