General situation of climate in Ali area

The special geological landform of Ali Plateau has formed unique climate characteristics. The whole region is divided into plateau temperate monsoon arid climate zone, plateau cold monsoon semi-arid climate zone and plateau cold monsoon climate zone. The seasonal changes are not obvious, only in winter and summer. Winter is long and summer is short, and the frost-free period is only 120 days. Gale weather, especially in the east, is the most severe, with annual gale weather 1 15 days. There is plenty of sunshine. For several years, the sunshine duration in shiquanhe town is 3,545.5 hours, which is the highest in Tibet. The annual precipitation in shiquanhe town is only 74.4 mm, which is the lowest in Tibet.

Ali is a secondary wind zone, with an annual average wind speed of more than 3.2 meters per second and a gale frequency of more than 8, and the annual gale days are about 149 days. The annual average temperature is 0℃, and the daily average temperature changes greatly, which is really "wearing cotton-padded jacket at night and yarn at noon". In shiquanhe town, the temperature is cold all the year round, and the annual average temperature is less than zero. In shiquanhe town, the extreme minimum temperature in winter is -4 1 degree, and the extreme maximum temperature in summer is 2 1 degree. The temperature difference between day and night is quite large, and the annual temperature difference above 5000 meters above sea level is small. In August, the daytime temperature is above 10 degree, and the nighttime temperature drops below 0 degree.

The annual precipitation in Ali is quite small and seasonal. From June 10 to April of the following year, the precipitation only accounts for 10% ~ 20% of the whole year, while the rainfall is very concentrated from May to September, generally accounting for more than 80% of the annual precipitation.

Due to the high altitude, cold and dry climate in Ali area, the annual rainfall is quite small, and the temperature difference between day and night is large. Even in summer, you may only wear a thin coat in the noon sun, but in the morning and evening, you won't feel hot when you put on a down jacket.

May-June and 9- 10 are the best seasons to go to Ali every year, which can avoid the rainy season and the troubles of snowy and muddy roads. It is rainy season in July and August, and cars are most likely to get stuck in the mud, so the trip is easy to delay. Of course, there will be more opportunities to see rainbows in Ali in summer, and many mountains will be covered with green coats, and the colors are richer than those in spring and autumn. In winter, the new Tibetan highway will be closed by heavy snow, so there are few coaches and trucks entering Ali.

The winter in Ali is long and cold, and there is a saying among local people, "November (Tibetan calendar) is the earth; East crack, the stone opens in December ",the degree of cold is self-evident, and the snow is as common as usual, and it is fierce. Some people say that Ali is a "forbidden area of life", but the brave Ali people are the "nemesis" of the forbidden area of life. Like snow lotus, they are not afraid of loneliness, snow and cold. They carry forward the indomitable spirit of Xuelian from generation to generation and bravely take root in this land. Ali's spring began in May, and the solidified earth came back to life, welcoming the arrival of life with an open mind. There are thousands of lovely birds, such as spotted geese, black-necked cranes, red-crowned cranes and brown-headed gulls, playing in the crystal clear lakes. Hongliuhua, Bangjinhua (Gentiana scabra) and Saussurea involucrata are beautiful and colorful, which makes the alpine grassland colorful and dazzling.
