Through the way of "pushing the top and lifting the bottom", the feasibility scheme of Lexi expressway Project was adjusted. The highest altitude was reduced from 2200m, the route mileage was shortened from170km to152km, and the ice and snow section was shortened to only 8km.

The first Yaxi expressway in our province, which extends from the basin to the periphery of the mountain, has a northern slope of 5 1km, with a maximum longitudinal slope of 4.82% and an average longitudinal slope of 2.97%, making it the "longest longitudinal slope" in China. The road conditions on downhill sections are complex and traffic accidents occur frequently. However, after design optimization, the slope of expressway, Lexi is controlled, with the single maximum longitudinal slope reduced to 2.9% and the average longitudinal slope lower than 2.5%. This means that the smoothness and comfort of traffic on Lexi expressway will be different from that of ordinary mountain expressway.
