What does white hair wind mean?
White hair wind means strong wind, cooling and snowfall. White-haired wind is a local name for this kind of weather in northern China. It is named because the snow on the ground raised by strong winds is like white hair, which is a great threat to grazing livestock. It is also called white disaster and snowstorm.
Features: When "white hair wind" appears in pastoral areas in winter and spring, strong winds roar and snowflakes fly all over the sky, resulting in horizontal visibility less than 10 km, and sometimes less than 1 km.
Hazard: The "white-haired wind" weather disoriented nomads and sheep, and the traffic was seriously blocked. At the same time, due to the cold weather and lack of food and grass, people were injured and frozen, and livestock froze to death.
Defense measures: Pastoral areas should build cold and warm sheds, dredge grazing roads, set up delivery rooms and lambing rooms in spring pastures, and set up forage depots and water cellars during the transition period. In the event of a sudden snowstorm, grazing in the wild can use favorable terrain such as hills, half-moon dunes and trees to avoid the snowstorm. Take care of the stallion, the first sheep and the first cow to prevent the herd from dispersing. Do a good job in forecasting the weather of animal husbandry, and make use of favorable weather to arrange activities such as transition, shearing, lamb picking and breeding to reduce losses.
