The publication of the paper marks that Yuan Longping officially entered the field of hybrid rice research, but at that time, its fate was not smooth sailing. After dozens of experimental bottles and jars were smashed, the research of hybrid rice became precarious with him.

Yuan Longping suffered from isolation, but his promise to "feed everyone and stop starving" made him very firm. Whenever he encounters resistance, he tells himself to guard against arrogance and rashness and make long-term plans.

The experimental equipment was destroyed, so he secretly took a flashlight, packed up the remaining seedlings and took them home, hiding them in the sewer; More than 700 experimental materials were destroyed again, and he endured grief and went into the mud to find seedlings for the rest of his life.

In order to escape the struggle, he took his assistant to Hainan for an experiment and spent the Spring Festival for seven consecutive years. In case of typhoon and rainstorm, he removed the door panel, carried the seedlings onto the door panel and moved them to a safe place. Even if the earthquake comes, they will protect their seeds regardless of their lives, because aftershocks continue. In order to continue the experiment, they slept on the straw mat in the playground for three months.

In the research process of hybrid rice, there are many difficulties and great patience and tenacity are needed. Yuan Longping solved them one by one with his wisdom and perseverance.
