Who was the Wu Ye Temple built for?

The author recently went to Wutai Mountain and witnessed with his own eyes that the incense in Wu Ye Temple is not ordinary. Wutai Mountain has 24 temples 1 (including 23 temples1and one temple1), of which Wu Ye Temple is the only one. There is a legend in Wutai Mountain that Wu Ye was enshrined in Wu Ye Temple, nicknamed "Everything Spirit".

Manjusri bodhisattva sacred stone

According to legend, Wutai Mountain, formerly known as Wufeng Mountain, has an extremely harsh climate. Water drops into ice in winter, sand and stones fly in spring, and it is extremely hot in summer, so farmers can't grow crops in the fields.

Manjusri Bodhisattva happened to preach here. Seeing people suffering, she decided to change the climate here. The Bodhisattva learned that there was a sacred stone named "Xielong Stone" at the Dragon King in the East China Sea, which could make the dry climate moist, so she became a charity monk and borrowed a piece from the Dragon King.

Manjusri Bodhisattva came to the East China Sea and saw a huge stone outside the Dragon Palace. Haven't go to the front, have felt a chill coming. Manjusri Bodhisattva met the Dragon King and explained her purpose. The Dragon King said apologetically, "The exorcist can borrow anything except this dragon stone. Because it took hundreds of years to salvage it from the bottom of the sea, it was extremely cool. Dragon comes back from work every day, sweating and steaming, and rests on it. If you borrow it, the dragon will have nowhere to rest. "

Manjusri Bodhisattva has repeatedly said that she is a monk of Wufeng Mountain, and she came to ask for help for the benefit of the world. The Dragon King is unwilling to lend the sacred stone to others, so it is inconvenient to directly refuse Manjusri's request. It is estimated that the old monk can't move the stone by himself. The Dragon King reluctantly agreed: "The sacred stone is very heavy, and no one can help you. If you can, you can! " Manjusri Bodhisattva thanked the Dragon King, went to the sacred stone and said a spell, immediately turning the boulder into a small projectile. Manjusri Bodhisattva stuffed the projectile in her sleeve and drifted away. The old dragon king was shocked and regretted it. When Manjusri Bodhisattva returned to Wufeng Mountain, it was the scorching sun. Because it didn't rain for a long time, the earth cracked and people suffered greatly. Manjusri Bodhisattva put the sacred stone in a valley halfway up the mountain, and a miracle happened: Wufeng Mountain immediately became a cool natural pasture. Therefore, this valley was named Liang Qinggu, and a temple was built here, named Liang Qing Temple, and Wufeng Mountain was renamed Liang Qingshan. Up to now, Wutai Mountain is also known as Liang Qingshan.

Liang Qingshi was placed in Liang Qing Temple of Wutai Mountain, with a length of 5 meters, a width of 2.8 meters and a thickness of 2 meters. The weight is about 18000 kg. It also has a magical name "Manjushri talks about boats", which can stand for more than 40 people at the same time.

Enlighten the fifth master to make a positive result

After learning that Manjusri Bodhisattva read the True Sutra and moved Xielong Stone to Wufeng Mountain, making it a cool world with four distinct seasons and unlimited scenery, Prince Wulong returned to the Dragon Palace and had nowhere to rest. The five brothers were so angry that they chased them to the foot of Wufeng Mountain and were furious. They even cut all five peaks into platforms, but they didn't find Xielong Stone. So the cleverest five princes of the Dragon King found Manjusri Bodhisattva and wanted an explanation, saying, "Our dragon stone was conceived through three difficulties and four robberies. Bodhisattva, how can you take away the beauty of people with compassion? "

Manjusri opened his eyes and saw that the Dragon Prince named Feast was compassionate and had a heavy Buddhist fate, so he deliberately pointed out: "There is no wind in summer and no sunshine in winter on Wufeng Mountain, and the climate is unpredictable. People are miserable. Thousands of people in Qian Qian are worse off than death, and even their lives are not guaranteed. Can't the dragon prince even contribute a stone of rest to all beings so that they can survive? Look, you can save tens of millions of lives with a dragon stone. Isn't it a feat of compassion? "

Hearing this, Wu Longzi thought that this stone could benefit people. He asked, it is indeed a good thing to change the harsh living environment of Wufeng Mountain. He changed his mind and said, "It's good to save all the people, but because of such a gem, you made my aquarium brothers toss around here. Isn't it a disaster for everyone on earth? "

Manjusri nodded and smiled: "Your compassion has been shown, so be measured. As for them, there are consequences. If you commit such a crime again, I'm afraid ... "

Before Manjusri's voice dropped, the other four dragon princes rushed in. One of them rushed to Manjusri and shouted, "Bodhisattva, give me back my dragon stone quickly!" " "

Manjusri Bodhisattva took a look and said, "You have turned the sky of Wufeng Mountain into darkness for a stone to stop the dragon, causing many casualties. All living beings exchange their lives for a stone to rest the dragon. You can't commit any more crimes. Go back to the Dragon Palace. However, if you really refuse to make some sacrifices to save all lives, I have put the Xielong stone in the secret magic rock. You can get it, but you can't hurt any more creatures, Amitabha! "

Hearing this, the Five Dragon Kings immediately rushed out of the Bodhisattva Hall and shouted, "Go and get the Dragon Stone back. We don't care what he does to save lives!" As he spoke, the dragons flew to the secret magic rock to get the dragon stone, but as soon as Prince Wulong left the temple gate, he immediately came back and asked, "Bodhisattva, are you really not going to save all beings?"

Manjusri Bodhisattva opened her eyes from samadhi and said with a smile, "Cause and effect always accumulate in the bottom of my heart. It's up to you to decide where to go!" Then, Manjusri Bodhisattva transformed Wulong, so that Wulong got the Buddha fruit of justice and equality. Like Manjusri Bodhisattva, Buddha is merciful and has become the incarnation of Manjusri Bodhisattva in Wutai Mountain. While the other four dragon kings came to confront two big mountains, passed through the secret magic rock deep in the forest, and rushed into the secret magic rock willy-nilly, only to see a brightly lit platform in the cave under the rock, on which stood a scroll of scriptures, but the four dragon kings ignored these, and rummaged around as soon as they entered the cave. When they searched for a long time and didn't see the shadow of Xie Longshi, they immediately became furious and scratched and swept around with African claws.

At this time, Wu Yi, who stayed beside Manjusri Bodhisattva, was very anxious to see this scene. He sighed again and again. "What can I do?"

Hearing this, Manjusri Bodhisattva whispered, "What a terrible sin, Amitabha! Evil is rewarded with evil, and good is rewarded with good! " Say; After reading the spell, I saw the secret rock suddenly rumble, the mountain closed, and the four dragons and their sons were locked in the secret rock. Since then, the secret magic rock has been called "Lock Dragon Cave" by the local people, and since then, Oolong Zi has climbed to the top of the North Taiwan, specializing in good weather and benefiting all beings. At the same time, he often locks dragons. At the mouth of the cave, I listened to his four brothers chanting in the cave, hoping that they would all achieve a positive result as soon as possible and get rid of it.

Wu Ye moved.

After being transformed by Manjusri Bodhisattva, King Wulong lived in a temple at the top of Beitai, and was busy giving alms every day. However, after a long time, Wu Ye wasn't satisfied with being beaten by the wind and rain, so whenever he was free, he always wanted to solve problems for all beings and seek benefits. Since then, more and more good people from Wu Ye have come to Beitaipingding for help. Later, Manjusri Bodhisattva saw that it was inconvenient for all sentient beings to go to the top of Beitai to worship, and it was hard for Wu Ye to travel back and forth, so he moved him to Wanfo Pavilion in Taihuai Town to solve problems for more sentient beings.

When the Temple was completed, many kind men and women who had received the compassion of the fifth master came to Fiona Fang. Just as people were looking forward to it, suddenly a beam of auspicious light flashed from the top of the north platform, followed by a spring thunder, and it rained cats and dogs in the bright sky. Soon, the rain merged into a huge stream and roared all the way into Qingshui River. Just when people were surprised, it was suddenly discovered that on the wave, there was an iron tower-like boatman, holding a pole and rowing a sailboat from far to near, carrying a Buddha statue with a black face and a golden body. This stunned the kind men and women who came to participate in the celebration. Until the boat rowed in front of people, several well-informed old talents suddenly woke up and hurriedly shouted: "The Fifth Master is coming!" " "After the shout, he immediately led the men and women to kneel and kowtow, which made the young people welcome the statue of Wu Ye ashore in the sound of firecrackers and carried it into the Wu Ye Temple carefully built for him. Strangely, however, when people just welcomed Wu Ye into the temple, the sky lit up again, the rain stopped, the river receded, and the mysterious boatman and boat disappeared.

Since then, people have benefited more from Wu Ye, and the incense of Wu Ye Temple has naturally become the most prosperous on Wutai Mountain.

Wu Ye Temple Ancient Stage

Legend has it that one year at the turn of summer and autumn, suddenly one day, a troupe came near the imperial city, with drums and music everywhere and an endless stream of audiences. But neither the villagers nor the monks in the temple went out to invite a troupe. Why are they singing? Someone asked the monitor, and the monitor said: A few days ago, a black-faced master of Wanfuge booked a play in our troupe and described the details. Hearing this, people are suspicious, but not sure. Coincidentally, this evening, the abbot of the Wanfuge also had a dream that the Fifth Master entered the hut and said to him: I made a special trip to Fan Shi the other day and booked a play of Zhaozhuang Opera Troupe for three days. The price of the script is also written and hidden in my robe sleeve.

When the old monk woke up from his dream, he was very surprised. He quickly opened the door of the temple and came to the statue of the fifth master. After burning incense and worshipping, I lifted my robe sleeve. Sure enough, he saw a yellow paper list with the days of singing and the price of playing.

According to this legend, people built a unique and elegant stage opposite the Wu Ye Concert Hall.

Historically, every year in the sixth month of the lunar calendar, Wu Ye Temple opened its doors and invited famous actors to sing good plays for Wu Ye, so that Wu Ye could benefit the world, with good weather and good crops. Moreover, the story of the Dragon King and Bodhisattva punishing evil and saving the people from fire and water is even more enthusiastic, so many people come here to make a pilgrimage and make a wish.

Fifth master saves the car.

One day in the Kangxi period of Qing Dynasty, Michelle Ye came to Wutai Mountain again. It was a sunny day. The emperor paid tribute to the top of the central platform, waved flags to clear the way along the way, and enjoyed the scenery on the top of the platform, with exotic flowers and herbs, and the solemn Manjusri icon in the performance hall, which was filled with incense. Michelle Ye couldn't help thinking of the prosperity of the Qing Dynasty, and he was very happy. On the way back, he and his entourage had a great time talking and laughing. But at this moment, there was a sudden gust of wind, and it was dark, flying sand and stones. The sedan chair bearer quickly stood up alone, with a dark face and strong body, and shouted, "What is my master worried about?" Michelle Ye replied: "I went to the Zhongtai Temple to pay homage and was about to return. Suddenly, a strong wind blew and I lost my way." The black-faced man added, "Don't worry, my Lord. The Buddhist minister immediately led him back to the palace. " When Emperor Michelle Ye opened his eyes again, people had already left, but there was a light in front of him, as if someone had lit a lamp in the dark. The sedan chair man hurried by along the light, and then he returned to the palace smoothly.

When he woke up the next morning, Emperor Kangxi naturally remembered yesterday's disorientation of Taiwan Province and the black-faced man who saved him back to the palace. He told the host monk who accompanied him about it and asked if there were any black-faced monks in Wutaishan Temple. The host thought for a long time, but he didn't think of any temple with such a monk. After breakfast, Emperor Kangxi strolled out of the palace and came to the Wanfo Pavilion. When he boarded the Dragon King Hall, he looked up and saw that the statue with black face and golden body in the middle was the same as the rescuer he saw yesterday. He was very excited at the moment and said, "You saved me from danger! I named you the Dragon King and Bodhisattva. " Then I gave you half a pair of horses to demonstrate strictness. Later, when it was spread among the people, the fruit position of the Dragon King and Bodhisattva was determined.

Wu Ye has a dream of rebuilding a temple.

This Longwang Temple (Wu Ye Temple) was built in the Qing Dynasty. In the sixth year of the Republic of China (A.D. 19 17), Wu Ye felt that the small hall was old, so one night, he entrusted the abbot of the Tayuan and the monk to have a dream with the same content. In the dream, he asked, "Rebuild the temple and gild the body. Otherwise, Wu Ye will be furious and disaster will come. "

Today, after the reconstruction of Longwang Temple (Wu Ye Temple), Wu Ye's dream. From the original rolling roof (one of the forms of double-slope roof in traditional buildings in China, that is, the junction of front and rear slopes is not ridged, but built into an arc surface), it is transformed into a double eaves resting on the top of the mountain and three Buddhist temples. Due to the small space, it is impossible to expand the five eaves. However, in order to meet the requirements of Wu Ye, a large hall has to be built in front of the temple, which is considered as an expansion of the temple. In order to please Wu Ye, dragons, phoenixes, lions, unicorns, flowers and figures were carved on pillars, bird tops, columns, arches and other places, making the Wu Ye Temple look resplendent and magnificent.
