Water spinach is not strict with soil, but it likes sticky and fertile soil and high temperature and high humidity environment. It can withstand the high temperature of 35-40 degrees. The optimum growth temperature is 25-30℃. It is not cold-tolerant, its stems and leaves will die when it meets frost, and it will stop growing below 10. I like the environment with high air humidity, the environment is too dry, the fiber is increased, the stems are thick and old, and the eating feeling is reduced.

Sowing and field management of water spinach

The seed epidermis of water spinach is thick and hard. If you sow directly, the germination will be slow, which will affect the planting cycle. If it rains for a long time, it may lead to seed rot.

So before sowing, soak the seeds in 50-60 warm water 15-30 minutes, stir to avoid scalding the seeds, then soak them in clear water for one day, then put them in the greenhouse to accelerate germination, wash them once a day until a large area begins to turn white, and then sow. It can be sown or drilled, and the amount of seeds used per mu is about 2 kg. After sowing, cover with a layer of fine soil and water it to keep the soil moisture.

The growth of Ipomoea aquatica has a great demand for fertilizer and water. In addition to applying sufficient fertilizer when planting, when it grows to 5cm, it needs to be watered and fertilized to make it grow rapidly, and then it needs to be watered frequently to keep the soil moist.
