Outline of the Story of the Scholars in the 36th Session

The Thirty-sixth time, the real Confucianism in Changshu County was born. The famous priest of Taibo Temple

There was a scholar in Changshu who was only in his fifties. He was extremely loyal and did a series of good deeds. Entrusted by his friends, he fulfilled his promise and took care of Wushu books when he arrived in imperial academy. Chu Xin and Yi Zhao advised Dr. Yu to hold his birthday in spring, so as to collect some gifts for spring outing, but they were rejected.

Dr. Yu's old neighbor, Mr. Tang Xianggong, came to see him and told him that he had demolished the house that Dr. Yu asked him to live in because of lack of money. Dr. Yu was not angry, but also gave him money to rent another house and sent a Guo Jian Zi who had committed gambling crimes to Yingtianfu. Instead of curing his crime, Dr. Yu ate and lived with him and returned home a few days later. Therefore, Dr. Yu Boshi was the chief priest of the Taibo ancestral hall ceremony.

Dr. Yu led the crowd to hold a grand sacrifice ceremony, and the villagers watched. After the ceremony, Peng Gongsun met Zhang Tiejun, who turned out to be Zhang Junmin, who changed from a ranger to a doctor. Zhang Junmin saw his misdeeds and left. Wu Shu told Du Shaoqing about the kindness of two doctors. Extended information

Brief introduction of the main characters:

1. Yu Yude is one of the classic characters in The Scholars. If Du Shaoqing is an effective fighter in the sage group, then Yu Yude is the leader of this sage group.

Du Shaoqing achieved the sublimation of his personality through a series of shocking moves. In contrast, Dr. Yu did not say anything strange, and his living environment was no more special than other scholars, but Yu Yude interpreted his extraordinary ideas in his ordinary life.

"Looking at the image of Dr. Yu, the person who has no way to rule the country and level the world is outstanding in hiding in the city, absorbing and accommodating the Neo-Confucianism of Zhuang Chan as a psychological adjustment, seeking self-improvement in personality, relative detachment in spirit and psychological peace and harmony".

2. Wang Mian is a real figure in history, and the author adapted it accordingly. Wang Mian plays an important role in the novel. In the characterization of the whole novel, he laid the basic characteristics of the author's ideal character, as Huimu said, "It is said that the wedge is applied to Dayi Chen, and the full text is hidden by celebrities." As a scholar and a "celebrity", Wang Mian embodies the spirit of China scholars.

The Scholars is a satirical novel that criticizes and exposes the current social situation and the fate of Confucian scholars with pungent brushwork. The novel vividly depicts the decadent status quo of the intellectual class's spiritual morality and cultural education under the imperial examination system. It reveals the concept of fame and fortune, bureaucracy, human relations and the whole social atmosphere through life.

The author starts with exposing the imperial examination system and the ugly souls of scholars enslaved by this system, and then satirizes the fatuous incompetence of feudal officials, the greed and meanness of landlords and gentry, the hypocrisy and meanness of arty celebrities, and the decay of the whole feudal ethical code system and the distortion of people's souls.

Wu Jingzi's satire obviously dealt a powerful blow to the feudal society, and vented the complaints of most like-minded scholars about the meanness of human nature and the darkness of society.
