Translation of diary of a trip to Baiyue Mountain
The translation of the diary of a trip to Baiyue Mountain is as follows:
In the Bingchen year, Deyang's uncle and I went to Xiuning County, Huizhou Prefecture, on the 26th of the first lunar month. Go out of the west gate of the county. The stream flows from Qimen County, passes through Baiyue Mountain, and flows southward along the county seat. After reaching Meikou, it joins the county stream and flows into Zhejiang River. Go up the stream and walk twenty miles to reach Nandu. After passing a bridge and walking along the foothills for ten miles, it was already evening when we arrived at Yanxiamen.
We walked five miles on the mountain, borrowed lanterns from the temple, braved the snowflakes, and stepped on icy edges. We walked two miles, passed Tianmen, and walked another mile or so before entering Langmei Temple. . On the way, we passed the two scenic spots of Tianmen and Zhulian. We had no time to look at them and admire them. We could only hear the clanking sound of falling ice in the woods.
After walking through Langmei Temple, a heavy hailstorm fell from the sky, but Uncle Deyang and his servant Xiangzi were still behind. I was lying alone on the bed in the mountain house. I heard the sound of water dripping from the eaves all night long, and I couldn't fall asleep. When I got up on the morning of the 27th, I saw that the mountains were covered with ice flowers and jade trees, and the sky and the earth were filled with silvery white.
Sitting in the building, Uncle Taoyang and his servants happened to arrive, so they boarded the Taisu Palace together. To the north of Taisu Palace, it is said that the statue of Emperor Xuan was made of soil brought in by birds, with a dark complexion. The statue was completed in the Song Dynasty, and the main hall was newly built in the 37th year of Jiajing (1558). The inscriptions in the courtyard were personally ordered by Emperor Shizong of the Ming Dynasty. On the left and right sides are the halls dedicated to Wang Lingguan and Marshal Zhao Gong, which are both majestic and magnificent.
The Taisu Palace is backed by Qiyun Rock, which looks like a jade screen, and faces Xianglu Peak in front. Xianglu Peak rises dozens of feet high, like an overturned bell. Some people who have never visited Tiantai Mountain or Yandang Mountain find it magical. Exiting from the left side of the temple, you reach Sheshen Cliff. Upward from the Chu Turn is the Purple Jade Screen, and to the west is the Zixiao Cliff, both of which are towering and particularly protruding.
Further west are Sangu Peak and Wulao Peak, with Wenchang Pavilion standing in front of them. Wulaofeng looks like five old people standing side by side. It is not very steep, but looks like a pen stand. Return to Langmei Temple, follow the path you took at night, and go down the ladder to heaven. But I saw that it was surrounded by stone cliffs on three sides. The upper part was covered by stone cliffs, and the lower part was embedded in the middle of the stone cliffs, very much like a corridor.
Walking along the stone cliff, the spring water falls outside the stone cliff, which is the scenic spot of Zhulianshui. Embedded deep in the stone cliff is Luohan Cave. The outside of the cave is wide and the inside is low. However, it is fifteen miles deep and can lead to the south crossing from the southeast. The end of the stone cliff is Tianmen. There is a hollow in the middle of the cliff. When people go in and out of the cave, they feel high and spacious and the eaves are abrupt, just like the legendary Tianmen.
Outside Tianmen, there are tall nan trees standing among them, green pines and green trees. In the area of ????the stone cliffs inside Tianmen, the bead curtain of water flying down is the most spectacular sight. After returning to Langmei'an to rest and inquire about the scenic spots of Wujing and Qiaoya, the Taoist priest Wang Bohua invited me to go with him tomorrow morning.
On the 28th, I heard someone in my sleep saying that it was snowing heavily. I urged my servants to get up and check, and found that the mountains and valleys were covered with snow. I barely stayed in bed. At about quarter o'clock in the morning, Wang Bohua and I put on our shoes and hit the road. After walking two miles, we arrived at Wenchang Pavilion. Looking at the vast expanse of white between the sky and the earth, although the tour of Wujing Scenic Spot is blocked, it adds to the wonder of the scenery.
On the 29th, the slave reported: "The clouds have dispersed, and the sun has appeared at the top of the woods." I hurriedly put on my clothes and got up, and saw only the same blue sky, which was the best I had seen in half a month. The weather has never been so good, but the cold is still very severe. So he urged Wang Bohua to have dinner together.
After dinner, the snow started to fall again, and the flying snow accumulated more than a foot thick. Occasionally, I walked to the front of the building and saw Xianglu Peak standing upright in front of me. A Taoist priest named Cheng Zhenhua walked out from behind the building and told me about the scenic spots in Jiujing, Qiaoyan and Fuyan.
The snow fell even more heavily on the 30th, and thick fog filled the air, making it difficult to tell the direction within a short distance. Wang Bohua took the wine to Sheshen Cliff, where he drank and enjoyed the snow in Diyuan Pavilion. Diyuan Pavilion is on the side of the cliff. Icicles hang down from the cliff one by one, and they are as long as one foot. The images of the peaks and mountains have disappeared in the snow and fog. For example, the Xianglu Peak is so close that no one can see its image.
On the first day of February, a wisp of clouds dispersed in the east, and then the sky became clearer. Uncle Deyang stayed in Langmei Temple because his feet were cracked by the cold and he could not walk. I was anxious to go down the Xitianmen with Wang Bohua. After walking for ten miles and passing Shuangxi Street, the mountain seemed to open up. After walking for another five miles, the mountains gradually closed up again, surrounded by streams, and the rocks were reflected in the streams, doubling the pleasure of the trip.
After walking three miles, follow the path from Shanxikou, climb over a mountain, pass two miles, and reach Shiqiaoyan. The outer rock on the side of Seokkyo Rock is as high as the Zixiao Rock of Baiak Mountain. Under the outer rock, rocks are used as temples. The color of the rocks is purple, except for a winding blue stone dragon inside. The dragon's head protrudes more than a foot high. Water drips from the dragon's mouth. It is called ambergris spring, which looks very much like the dragon in Yandang Mountain. Nose.
On the right side of the outer rock, a mountain spans across. The middle of the mountain is empty. This is the stone bridge. The stone bridge looks like a flying rainbow, and the empty space below just looks like a half-moon. Sitting under the stone bridge, there is a mountain rising up across the mountain. On top of the stone bridge, there are many peaks surrounding it. The scenery is more beautiful than Qiyun Mountain Tianmen.
Even the stone beam in Tiantai Mountain is just a huge stone frame between two mountains; here, a mountain is elevated on both sides, and half of it is empty in the middle, which is even more clever and fantastic! After crossing the stone bridge and walking for more than a mile, you will reach Inner Rock. There is a flying spring on the inner rock, and there are monks in the middle providing fast food. It is really a beautiful scene.
Return to Waiyan for dinner. I found a guide and was able to go down the mountain along the left side of the cliff. There is a stream between two mountains in the bushes and grass. The road is difficult to walk, and the heavy snow in the sky makes walking very difficult. The guide advised me to go to Fu Yan instead of Guanyin Rock. I was worried that I would not be able to take in the sights of Chessboard and Longjing at the same time, so I didn’t agree.
After walking two miles, I saw a deep pool of water in the stream. It was so green that it seemed bottomless, and it looked like a "Dragon Well". After walking for another three miles, the cliffs and mountain streams were exhausted, and a high-hanging waterfall suddenly flew down from the mountain col for several feet, which was also a strange and beautiful scene. I turned around and climbed up. After walking two miles at the entrance of the ridge, I saw a checkerboard stone standing high on the top of the mountain. It was shaped like a mushroom held up and was several meters wide.
When you climb onto the chessboard stone, the snow covering it is like pure white jade. Looking back at Fu Yan, he towers over the clouds. The distance from Fu Yan to Qipanshi is also very short. I regret not listening to the guide. There is a Manjusri nunnery next to the chessboard stone. The green bamboos and beautiful rocks in the nunnery complement each other. Turn east and then walk south for two miles, cross two mountains, and see Guanyin Rock on the mountainside.
Guanyinyan Temple is clean and tidy, but there are no strange landscapes. What I particularly regret is that I have already seen Fu Yan but lost the opportunity to visit Fu Yan. Still climbing over the mountains and heading east, we walked down the deep pit. The stone stream was surrounded by cliffs, and there were deep pools from time to time. The big ones were abyss, and the small ones were as small as mortars. They were all called "Longjing", and it was impossible to tell which one was "Wulongjing". ", which place is "Jiulongjing".
Going forward for another three miles, we saw faint veins in the rocks. The guide pointed to one of them as "Green Dragon" and the other as "White Dragon". I smiled and nodded. And in the middle of the cliff, I saw a stone embedded in the cliff, hanging in the air, with water flowing down, and there were horizontal stones crossing it outside, much like the stone beams in Tiantai Mountain.
Taoist Wang Bohua asked me to quickly follow the mountain stream to find Dalongjing because it was getting late. Suddenly I met a monk who had returned from Huangshan Mountain and said, "When you walk out of here, you will see Daxi. What else can you see?" So he returned.
After walking for more than a mile, we headed towards the Lacquer Tree Garden from other paths. Running among the rocks and turbulent water, the setting sun reflects on the deep woods, which is very quiet and beautiful. After walking three miles, I climbed to the top of Lacquer Tree Garden. I originally thought that the mountain was as high as Qiyun Mountain, but when I took a closer look, I found that Wenchang Pavilion was quite majestic.
Wulao Peak rises directly opposite Wenchang Pavilion. To the east is Dushu Village, which comes out along the mountain valley of Dushu Village and is called Xitianmen; to the west of Wulao Peak is Zhanqi Peak, crossing the stream from the foot of Zhanqi Peak, is called Furong Bridge. I used to come out from Xitianmen and now I enter through Furong Bridge.
I saw the brilliance of the setting sun still lingering next to Sangu Rock, so I climbed up first and saw the setting sun slowly setting between the Wulao Peaks. When we returned to Langmei Temple, it was already time for dinner.
After recounting the experience of this day to each other, we found out that Dalongjing is at the mouth of Daxi, and we have touched it with our toes, but the monk stopped us from visiting it. This is also the number of days!
