Ice pushing time in Sailimu Lake

The phenomenon of ice pushing in Sailimu Lake generally appears in mid-February and mid-April of 10 every year.

Recently, with the temperature drop, the "ice push" landscape appeared in Sailimu Lake in Bortala Mongolian Autonomous Prefecture, Xinjiang. Under the action of strong wind, layers of lake ice are constantly surging and pushed to the shore, and the floating ice collides with the waves into fine ice cubes, like a large number of crystals gathered on the shore. Layers of ice and deep blue lake water form a magnificent landscape.

It is understood that the ice pushing phenomenon in Sailimu Lake generally occurs in mid-June+February of 5438 when the ice surface just freezes and when the ice surface thaws and melts in mid-April every year. Due to the weather, the temperature difference between day and night is large, and the lake freezes quickly at night. Driven by the wind, the whole lake was pushed to the shore by the waves.

Sailimu Lake is located in the middle of Tianshan Mountain, more than 500 kilometers away from Urumqi, with an altitude of 207 1 meter. It is the highest altitude and the largest alpine cold water lake in Xinjiang.

cause

Every year around the winter moon, there will be an "ice push" spectacle in Sailimu Lake. This is inseparable from the unique natural endowment of Sailimu Lake. Sailimu Lake, as an alpine lake, has a high altitude and a large area, and the wind and waves vary in different periods.

As soon as the winter moon arrived, the temperature plummeted. When the wind and waves around -20℃ are small, thin ice will form on the edge of the lake. Over time, the wind and waves become bigger, and the lake will be choppy, forcing the thin ice to break and collide, and being pushed to the shore with the wind and waves, thus forming the unique "ice push" of Sailimu Lake.
