Horn failure should be divided into line failure and horn failure. The main line fault is virtual connection, such as loose horn plug terminal, ablation of horn relay contact, poor contact of horn switch at steering wheel, etc. But in many horn failures, especially in winter, the failure of the horn itself is the most common problem. Combined with our use environment and other factors, the failure of the horn itself is mainly due to the following reasons:

1. Contact ablation: Pressing the horn for a long time will easily lead to contact ablation of the horn, resulting in impedance, and the current flowing through the electromagnetic coil will be weakened. Electromagnetic attraction cannot attract the armature to drive the diaphragm to vibrate normally, resulting in hoarse or even silent pronunciation. But when honking the horn continuously, if the instantaneous strong current passes through the impedance and still works normally, it will be good and bad.

2. Frosting caused by poor sealing: Although the interior of the horn is sealed, if it is not sealed well, it will enter fog or water vapor in the air in the interior space when washing the car. In two environments with large temperature difference, such as moving from a warm warehouse with high temperature to an outdoor place with extremely low temperature, water vapor can easily frost between metal contacts, resulting in contact freezing and failure to work normally. If you return to the warm warehouse environment, the frost will thaw and return to normal work. Therefore, there will be a phenomenon of "ok as soon as you arrive at the repair shop".

3. Poor contact of the electromagnetic coil terminals: some terminals of the enameled wire of the electromagnetic coil inside the horn are connected by aluminum rivets, and the welding is unreliable. If the insulating paint on the enameled wire at the end is not cleaned or the rivet is not reliable, it will easily lead to the failure of the virtual joint and lead to the poor operation of the horn. This failure is due to the quality problem of the horn, which cannot be repaired and can only be replaced with a new one.

Suggestions on matters needing attention in the use of automobile horn;

1. Remember to prevent the horn from getting wet when washing the car in winter, and blow dry the horn with an air gun as soon as possible if it is flooded.

2. Try not to press the horn for a long time, which will easily lead to premature ablation of the horn contact.

3. Try to seek the help of professional maintenance technicians when the horn fails, and don't blindly replace the horn, which will easily cause unnecessary waste.
