The History and Culture of Xia Ya Town

Xia Ya Town has a long history, where Sun Quan's general Sun Shao grew up. It is precisely because he was named "Hou of Jiande" and took the meaning of "merit" that the name of Jiande came from this. Xia Ya Town also preserves the "Jiande Houci" in memory of Sun Shao and the "Fuchun Hall" in Sun Shi. Xia Ya also recorded the first female emperor in China and Chen Shuozhen, the female leader of the peasant uprising in the Tang Dynasty. At that time, Xia Ya revolted and proclaimed himself "Emperor Wenjia". She proclaimed herself emperor 65 years before Wu Zetian. It is said that Wu Zetian was also inspired by her. She led troops to attack Tonglu, Changhua, Jinhua and Shexian in Anhui, and finally died in Xia Ya Town. According to legend, Chen Shuozhen was besieged on a mountain. She waved double swords, and the troops of the Tang Dynasty fired thousands of arrows in unison. She was hit by several arrows, and officers and men flocked to her. When trying to catch Chen Shuozhen, a huge phoenix landed on the hill, scaring off the officers and men, and then the phoenix flew away from Chen Shuozhen, so this hill was called "Falling Phoenix Mountain".

Xia Ya was also an important commercial port in ancient times, and there are still ancient houses and slate streets. Xin 'anjiang meanders in Zhijiang Village of Xia Ya Town. It is foggy all year round and the climate is pleasant. The wetland here has been gradually developed into a photography base. A large number of photographers from home and abroad came here to create, and many works of Xia Ya Wetland won awards.
