Where is Yangjiazhai Water Mill Group located?
On the banks of the Jinjiang River below Yangjiazhai, Xinying Village, Lanli Town, Mayang Miao Autonomous County, there are four connected wooden structure water mills left over from ancient times, which are called the Yangjiazhai Water Mill Group.
This ancient water mill complex was once the place where Lin Zexu, a celebrity in the Qing Dynasty, stayed overnight when he went to the Phoenix Review Camp in western Hunan via Chenshui (Jinjiang River upstream of Yuanshui River). In the 17th year of Daoguang's reign in the Qing Dynasty (1837), Lin Zexu, then governor of Huguang, recorded in his diary in his "Biography of Lin Zexu": "Going to the Phoenix Hall of the Miao Territory to review the camp. We took the water and went up the river. On August 20 By the end of the journey, we were more than ten miles away from Lanli Station, but it was too late to go to the beach. There was a thunderstorm that didn't stop at midnight, and the weather was still cold, so we parked our boat and spent the night at the papermaking workshop (Damo). "Because of the celebrity. Recording this history adds brilliance to this Nianqun.
The Yangjiazhai Water Mill Group in Xinying began in the Yuan Dynasty. The structure of the water wheel in the nest is roughly the same as that of the ancient water mill. The difference is that each of the four water mills is more than ten feet apart, and they are connected by wooden bridges to form a whole. One is close to the river bank, with three sides built with stones and one side facing the water supported by willow trees. A stone mill is installed in the center of the grinding plate. In the hollow center of the stone mill, a thick central axis column (commonly known as the general column) more than two feet high is installed. The upper end of the column is formed into an angle, and a large arc-shaped willow wood is installed. The other end is equipped with a stone mill. The central axis column leads to the lower end of the rolling nest and is installed as a wooden horizontal wheel (commonly known as the dragon pan frame). A wooden waterwheel is placed on the water side of the grinding nest. The water is released to drive the waterwheel. The waterwheel drives the water wheel (dragon frame) to rotate. The water wheel drives the stone grinding mill above, which can grind grain, flour, and paper pulp. The other three water mills are built in the river. They are built with stones to form circular mill plates and stand suspended in the air, which is majestic.
In recent years, this water mill group has attracted many literati, poets and tourists to linger here.
CCTV reporters, nationally renowned photographers, painters and tourists come here in droves to take photos of the scenery
