Ask for advice: Why is the Mediterranean climate dry and hot because of subtropical high control?

Hello LZ

Should we compare the south of China to the subtropical high in summer, but it is not dry and hot?

That's because the Mediterranean climate is completely controlled by the subtropical high in summer, and the weather situation is stable, while Eurasia has a continental thermal depression in summer because of the rapid warming of the land.

The existence of this thermal depression makes it impossible for the subtropical high to stably control the southeast coast of China. In fact, the subtropical high that controls China is only the monomer of the subtropical high in the northwest Pacific, and even the variability of the continental high. The subtropical high in the northwest Pacific is only the westward extension of the Hawaiian high.

At the same time,

The west coast of the mainland will be affected by the cold current from north to south, and the coastal area will be further dehumidified while cooling down, and the air will become dry. The main body or east part of the subtropical high controls the west coast of the mainland. The westerly airflow on the north side of the subtropical high will bring the relatively dry ocean airflow ashore, and after circling the land for half a circle, it will return to the sea with the same dry easterly airflow. So the airflow on the east side is always quite dry.

On the east coast of the mainland, the easterly airflow on the south side of the subtropical high transports a warmer and wetter tropical airflow (even a typhoon) to the southeast coast. Obviously, this air flow is more humid. Even if it is not a monsoon region (such as the southeast coast of North America), thermal convection often occurs in summer, forming thunderstorms and so on.
