Sura may be shortlisted for the top ten typhoons
"Sura" has become one of the top 10 typhoons that have landed in Guangdong.
According to the latest meteorological data, Typhoon No. 9 "Sura" of 2023 made landfall on the coast of Jinwan District, Zhuhai City, Guangdong Province at 3:30 a.m. on September 2 with strong typhoon level. When it made landfall this time, the maximum wind force near the center of the typhoon reached level 14 (45 meters/second), and the lowest pressure in the center was 950 hPa. This makes "Sura" the strongest typhoon to land in Guangdong this year, and one of the top ten intensities among all typhoons that have landed in Guangdong.
Typhoon "Sura" is expected to move west-south along the Guangdong coastline at a speed of 15 to 20 kilometers per hour and gradually weaken. According to the Zhuhai Meteorological Observatory, Typhoon "Sura" passed through the Wanshan Islands in Zhuhai, leaving behind violent wind data. Miaowan Island recorded a gust of 62.2 meters/second, which is equivalent to an explosive wind force above level 17! Dangan Island recorded a maximum average wind speed of 51.3 meters/second, which is equivalent to a strong wind of level 16.
Precautions on typhoon days:
1. Close doors and windows: Make sure the doors and windows at home are closed to prevent strong winds from blowing away items or breaking windows. Especially when making landfall, avoid opening windows to prevent sudden storms from invading the interior.
2. Stay away from dangerous objects: Secure indoor and outdoor loose objects to prevent them from being blown away by the wind and causing damage. At the same time, avoid parking in areas where you may be hit by trees, billboards, etc.
3. Pay attention to weather forecasts and warnings: Pay close attention to typhoon warnings and warning information issued by the meteorological department, and keep abreast of the dynamics and paths of typhoons in order to make timely decisions.
4. Avoid wading: After a typhoon, especially when floods occur, avoid wading to prevent dangers such as being washed away by undercurrents or getting electric shock.
